What if Liara viewed Shepard as a very close friend?
The Liaramancers view that section of dialogue as very vague and disheartening, since Shepard cannot express love toward Liara thanks to there being no option to do so.

Proof positive why Bioware should have written two different sets of dialogue/animations for that encounter.  Just like they shouldn't have cookie-cuttered Kaidan and Ash on Horizon.  I'd have gladly eliminated half the ME2 team for Bioware to be able to put more time and effort into things like that.

*Snickers* That whole conversation was such win.  I'm looking forward to replaying ME1 eventually for all the lovely Kaidan and Ash.

You like that, eh?  I'll just leave this here.  It's our oldest with Mrs Templar's brother.  

He's a big Bioware/western RPG player.  He was available until recently.  If anything changes in that regard, I'd be more than happy to announce it here.

I agree with Joisan's comment.  Problem seems to be in BW's attempts at economy.  However, given the existing dialog,  as much as I like and appreciate Liara, if my close friend didn't tell my LI/partner about trying to save my life, I'd wonder about that and probably wouldn't like it too much.  And in Kaidan's shoes I suspect I'd like it even less, particularly if I'd considered her a rival for Shep's affections.

i really didn't like the fact that Liara was the one who helped bring me back. Heck I didn't even try to romance her in the game in made no sense to me as to why she would try to bring me back, Thought I might just try a love triangle in my next game, so at least ME2 make sense. I just never liked the fact that she never told Kaidan that she was trying to bring my Shepard back to life.
