Humans and turians have WAY too much in common in their cultures. Talk about sibling rivalry.

And this - I'm sure if the Turians just said "Dudes, what the hell are you doing?" the humans probably woulda backed off. Instead, the tried to conquer humanity, and thought they had succeeded at Shanxi, heh.

Basically, I don't see the aliens in ME2 as a threat, but I can see why many humans don't like'em.

Umm... stop to think for a moment that the Turians wouldn't have spoken any human languages, and the humans certainly wouldn't speak Turian.  An added layer of complication there.

I'm off to hang out with my best friend from high school.  See y'all later!

Turians are like that. They don't ask 'why' and they certainly don't answer 'why'. ^_^

True dat.

I guess my point is that I didn't get on with Ash because I found her distrust of aliens to be unprofessional and unhelpful.  The war ended because the Council intervened, and Turians and Humans both have a responsibility to be good galactic citizens and respect the Council in that regard.  If Ash and her ilk can't appreciate that the war is over and put the hostilities behind them, they're not helping.

So, like I said, I said, "okay, enjoy your solitude in the Normandy's armory" and sent her to her death on Virmire.

I doubt Ash is gonna start a one woman war against the aliens - and given she has had no experience working with aliens (expect maybe shooting Batarian slavers), I don't find it surprising she distrusts them. She doesn't hate them, note - she distrust them - the same way she distrusts politicians.

As someone with a degree in communication, I can attest that there would definitely be a language barrier.

But do you honestly think, with all their advanced technology, that the Turians didn't have something like Photoshop?

True, but I don't think gunfire would help with the communication process;

"Sir, we don't speak their language and they've not powered up their weapons."

"Eh, I'm bored, lets shoot them."

"S...sir?! But we've just meet them! Their a new species of alien - surely we should try and establish communications."

"That was an order."

"*sigh* Yessir"

Yes the Turians messed up big time with first contact. However I think it was kind of stupid of them in the first place to attack someone for trying to active there mass relay in earth  solar system. We had no clue as too the law of cidetal space, and what not ect..

It wasn't Earth's solar system - it was in Shanxi's system - by that point, humanity had settled a few colonies, though nothing like as many as they do by the time of ME1.

You're welcome ^_^ The Mass Effect wiki has more info - basically, the humans just activated every gate they could find to explore and/or settle as much of the galaxy as they could - the Council laws said that was a big no-no cus of what happened with the Rachni, hence why the Turians where cheesed off - though they where still in the wrong for attacking.

Mrs Templar's favorite comedian.  We saw him live here in KC last year.  Best. Show. EVAR!!!

Doug & Becc - You Brits seriously need to elect this guy to public office.  He's just ridiculously smart.

Also, how awesome would it be to have a MP with fantastic makeup?  B)

Also, since you're a small country and you all know each other, give Patrick Stewart my congratulations on his knighthood the next time you see him.  :)

And no, we need to elect Stephen Fry (he's the guy in the middle)!
