I'm sorry if anyone felt offended by what I thought was a diplomatic attempt on my part to state that this thread has been going more and more off topic lately for longer periods of time, and to ask people to please consider that the mods, though they have seemed absent lately, will lock threads for off-topic chatter.

I completely agree with what TeenZombie, Fort and some others have already said.

In short, I've enjoyed getting to know you guys, but seeing more pages of posts about stuff that has nothing to do with Kaidan, Mass Effect, or even Bioware in general (or our lives in general) more frequently is rapidly losing its appeal. I'm rather surprised and actually a little disappointed that people took such offense to what was, in my opinion, very mildly put, to the point of referring to TZ, Fort, myself and anyone else who took that point of view as the on-topic police.

Sorry, didn't mean to single you out with the "police" comment.  There's been a pattern of commentary lately, and that's more what I was replying to.

That said, you make a very good point about snipping images from reply chains. If people don't do it, it makes for a lot of scrolling!

I think the problem that occurs is that since this is the internet, we're missing out on what people mean since there's no face to associate it with. I don't think anyone's telling anyone what to do. Perhaps the people that are saying that 'we might alienate others by going way off topic" are feeling alienated. That being said, I'll step forward as someone that felt alienated a few days ago and off and on for a while. There was page after page of roleplaying and spam, and I remember putting together a post then clicking back on my browser and saying, "What's the point?"

The last thing that I'd want to happen would be a group split. Tali's group did that recently.

I think people were just a little surprised to suddenly see it had become an issue.  I do think some ot posts add to the liveliness of the forum and add an element of fun.  I also think we all share a love of Kaidan and BW in general.  I have seen and sometimes participated in ot posts, but it really seems to me that those posts are relatively few and that the conversation always winds its way back to our favorite topic, Kaidan.  Just my opinion, which may or not be shared by anyone.

Ironically the only time I felt alienated was when it was suggested that OT banter was becoming excessive as with Mrs T I never thought there was a problem.  Sure sometimes stuff I say is missed but that happens in RL too, I just figure no-one saw or cared but very rarely is a post either on or off topic ignored.  But honestly now I'm worried about what I post, never felt that way before.

I don't want to see a split either, but now I'm just sad

I for one have been feeling like this for some time now, but hadn't spoken up because I was too worried of giving offense, and I didn't want to seem to be singling anyone out.

I don't mind some OTness, but fast moving pages of random conversations between a select number of people make it really hard to try to start/have an on topic discussion; it'll just get overwhelmed with posts.

This is the first thread I've actively participated, I delurked because there were intelligent discussions going on and I felt adding my two cents might interest others; I don't feel that way at all when there's pages of roleplaying happening like Fort mentioned.
