About Kaidan turning into Shepard's rival:
If the do this, everyone will need to hide their babies and puppies, because I will be kicking all that I can on sight. That's the most awful thing they could ever do to us... give us a tiny cameo and a "maybe we can be back together" then BAM! "we must fight!!!11!!!" They can't do this to us...
Can they?
About OT and yesterday:
I agree with everything that Jho said. Maybe I didn't articulate myself as clearly as she did on the matter. I'm cool with OT and have participated in it, but I'd felt like I was intruding eventually because things had gone very OT in the past week or so. I apologize for not speaking up sooner; I tend to let things slide if they bother me or if I'm upset. I rarely speak up. It was not my intent to break anything apart but to try to let people be aware that others may feel the same way I do about it. That being said, nobody is an "outcast" for being OT. Nobody is going to tell anyone to get lost unless they're a troll...
And if it's a troll, it's guaranteed to be a barbecue, so bring your sauce (heh... sauce).

My biggest fear is that the "sidelining to keeping Kaidan alive for ME3" just means he has a important plot role (him taking the role of Shepard in ME1 and Shepard being in Sarens role which could be a scenario and which some has discussed) and that if you cheated or not only affects how well you will be able to solve the situation with no continuation of the romance at all. I don't want that, I want epic conclussion of the Kaidan romance for Me3!
Nooooo, that would make me a very sad Shepard if that scenario came to pass. I have to keep being positive right now, because they said that the ME1 love interests were in a three-act romance, and I'm holding them to that...
I think it would be really great story telling if they do, mixing in some drama to get you all upset at Horizon and then you have to build up the relations in Me3 again (and i'm guessing they needed to construct a situation where people could jusitfy hooking up with someone else without being total douchbag). I think it creates a great starting point for the Me3 romance where you can have a great build up. When the third games has been released I think I would prefer this type of progression (1: build up 2. drama 1: build up).
It's just a pain to wait for the third game to get a conclussion to it all (and that includes the general story about reapers too)

I really do hope they give us something between ME2 and 3 to keep us going, just a flicker of hope so to speak. While knowing Kaidan will return in ME3, I would love a little extra in ME2. Would adore a holovid mail thing but paying Sbarge to VO that would most likely be too expensive...sadly
That's pretty much what makes me a bit dubious about the romance DLC idea - cool concept, which I'd love to see, but the expense of getting people back in to record dialogue makes it a bit unlikely in my estimation. It's much easier to produce generic stuff like guns and armour
On a side note, I started playing KotOR yesterday - remembered I bought it for my fiance for Christmas a couple of years ago and promptly borrowed it back! I have to say that even having only just arrived on Taris I don't get the comparisons that some people constantly make between Carth and Kaidan - it's recognisably Sbarge, yes (and thus a drool-inducing aural experience by itself), but it doesn't sound like "Kaidan" to me. "Carth" is distinct.

I'm not expecting more Kaidan content either, unless it's part of a 'romance pack'... even then, I think the 'romance pack' would apply to only ME2 romances.
KOTR... isn't that where Michelle7 went?
Also, class starts at 9:30. I have to go.

Haha, yes, Carth is completely not Kaidan (but I like to compare them sometimes because of the aural expereince). Oddly, I find Carth to be a mix of Kaidan with Alistair's humor to an extent. They're all very unique characters though.
Just imagine having all three in the same room and having to decide between them.

Hmm...while I'm sure ME3 will have a build up relationship wise, counting the dialogues LI's get in the Mass Effect series, it leaves little room for all out dramatics. Further more it queues the whole 'lovescene before the epic battle' thing again, which I REALLY hope they will steer away from.
I wouldn't like to drag a tense Kaidan along through ME3 and then finally having him swoon over Shepard again right before the last epic battle followed by a "and they lived happily ever after". Would rather see a heated discussion/fight resulting in a good heart to heart at the start of the game, give them 1 or 2 conversation sets to give it all 'some thought' and then put the confirmation of love halfway through the game, leaving the rest up for fluff

Yea i agree, i hope they don't use the same old formula like always (BW kind of experimented with that in DAO since the progression is different for different LI's). I would really like this type of build up (the one you constructed) and I think it would fit the situation that kaidan and Shep are in. And we already waited for one whole game, better they solve it sooner then later :x

Jho, Teen and Fort, thanks for your comments about the OT stuff, I feel the same way. Some OT is totally cool and personally I think that anything BW related is really not quite OT, but the role playing silliness was getting over the top. I've been having a lot of fun on Twitter, but even if I hadn't started that, the thread was seriously starting to losing its appeal for me.
Thanks for the fic recommendation, I just read the first two chapters, reviewed and subscribed!
ETA: So, ladies...Rank in order of preference: Kaidan, Alistair, Carth! It's almost impossible to choose between the first two for me, but...

It has nothing to do with how good Kaidan looks in a tux, nope. Conversation, that's the only reason I'm here.

Well,
if they planned ahead for multiple DLC's, and then got the VA's in to
do it all at once... *hopeful look* Romance and friendship and mission
dialogue all at once would probably get them enough to be worth the
minimum time requirements and all. But, that assumes they've got enough
in the works that they can plan that much dialogue up front.
@Lianna: I have also always thought Carth and Kaidan were quite distinct, so I can't help you figure out where the original complaint is coming from.

Because Mass Effect was supposed to be a trilogy, I think they have the romances spread out to work like that... so ME3 should have a much deeper relationship (if what CH said is to be taken literally...)

Ahh, forgot to comment on the preview in my haste to get caught up! I really enjoyed that a lot, Fort, seems like quite a different atmosphere for Parallax, looking forward to seeing where you take it! Poor Toombs...I felt so awful when I got that e-mail from him in ME2.
Also, I must have terrible judgment, because I never even really thought Carth was whiny (I'd be freaked out if I discovered my almost-girlfriend had been an evil overlord). But maybe I just have a thing for whiny men.

More dialogue, yeah!
Ohhh...a sprinkling of hope is always good!
As to LI order...gosh.
1. Kaidan
2...can't decide...can I have both?
Haven't played Kotor in ages, but I do love Carth. Alistair is cute and funny, but I really dreaded the whole 'hold his hand through all the drama' thing he had going on.
So glad Kaidan is ...well....just a man..you know. Can't find the words

This. Agreed! The only addendum is that I wouldn't mind seeing a "loyalty mission" type thing very early in the game where she proves and he proves that they're on the same side.
Also, good morning.

Actually, in all seriousness, I'm currently fondest of Alistair because there is so much more actual romantic development... if they actually do a good reunion + in ME3 though, Kaidan would win.
Poor Carth, left out in the cold. (And no, I never found him whiny either. Was very confused the first time I came across a Kaidan complaint because they found him too much like whiny Carth. I was all wha- ?!?

Ack, asking me to rank them is like asking me to pick one kitten out of a room full of kittens. It cannot be done (because I'm convinced I can have them all). Well, techincally it can be, but I always feel sadder because I can't take them all with me.
Gun to the head, if I had to choose:
1) Kaidan
2) Alistair
3) Carth
But, they're all super close, that it should be a threeway tie. And I didn't choose Kaidan because this is his thread. There's something that I can't quite describe about his character that is attractive to me.
