1. Kaidan

2. Alistair

3. Carth*

Kaidan is the type of guy i prefer, mature and calm (fits my Shep perfect). Alistair is really cute and heartwarming but he has certain anoying tendencies (still a favorite though). I havn't actually played kotor (i'm guessing i have to now :P) so can't judge Carth

I haven’t played KoToR for a couple of years which is most likely why Carth easily falls to #3 on my list.

Poor Carth, left out in the cold.  (And no, I never found him whiny either.  Was very confused the first time I came across a Kaidan complaint because they found him too much like whiny Carth.  I was all wha- ?!? :o:crying:  I rather want to play KOTOR again now, actually, with all the Carth comments we've been bringing up.  The 4-yearl-old would like that.  He's a big Star Wars fan, and is weirdly entertained watching me play video games.  (I think Mission's his favorite character...)

I find it kind of funny. Usually the posters that complain about male characters being whiny are males themselves (and males are overrepresented on the forums so it's easily seen as some general consensus amongst players). The characters that they see as whiny are usually those that express some type of feeling, and god forbid that! :P

I don't have a lot of experience with Bioware romances or their games in general... ME was my first XD

1. Kaidan

2. Alistair

Though Alistair was a sweetheart, he did have the propensity to whine a tad more than I'd like to have in a guy. The rose made me squee myself though.

Kaidan's got a very down to earth feel to him, even more than Alistair. He strikes me as the type to not give gifts or compliments quickly; if he does, they're extremely genuine.

I'd be happy with actual flashbacks to footage from ME1 of Kaidan. That wouldn't be expensive!

I would have loved, loved, loved a night before Ilos flashback in the Normandy crash site mission. ^_^ Started a dudeshep for ME2 a while ago, seeing the flashback to cute smile DEAD Kaidan we got there there was...I don't want to talk about it!

Kotor is an excellent game, Sbarge does a wonderful job on Carth. Like mentioned before despite it being, obviously, the same voice as Kaidan, his tone of voice is so different. Carth has more humor in his voice at times to.

Can't put my finger on what it is exactly but despite sharing the same voice, Kaidan sounds more ...relaxed? Softer?...gah...well you get the picture ;)

I'm going to lose my Kaidan fan card here:

1) Alistair

2) Kaidan

3) Carth

Alistair is most like my husband. It may be the closest thing I ever get to playing an RPG with my husband. MMO's don't count. ;)

Well,
if they planned ahead for multiple DLC's, and then got the VA's in to
do it all at once... *hopeful look*  Romance and friendship and mission
dialogue all at once would probably get them enough to be worth the
minimum time requirements and all.  But, that assumes they've got enough
in the works that they can plan that much dialogue up front.

@Lianna:  I have also always thought Carth and Kaidan were quite distinct, so I can't help you figure out where the original complaint is coming from.   Then again, I also never found Carth as whiny as his detractors did, cause he only 'whined'  when your PC was harrassing him.    Plus, Sbarge could read the phone book and I'd be happy, so Sbarge 'complaining' was just fine with me.  More dialogue, yeah!

I hope they planned for DLC.  I would think (maybe not) that BW has the story pretty much figured out, and could have planned for some Kaidan DLC - if that is what they wanted.  Sadly, I think we may have to wait until ME3.

MY picks

1 - Kaidan
2 - Carth (although I have not played in years)
3 - Allister (I just bought DA a few days ago - have not made it very far)

Hmm...while I'm sure ME3 will have a build up relationship wise, counting the dialogues LI's get in the Mass Effect series, it leaves little room for all out dramatics. Further more it queues the whole 'lovescene before the epic battle' thing again, which I REALLY hope they will steer away from.
I wouldn't like to drag a tense Kaidan along through ME3 and then finally having him swoon over Shepard again right before the last epic battle followed by a "and they lived happily ever after". Would rather see a heated discussion/fight resulting in a good heart to heart at the start of the game, give them 1 or 2 conversation sets to give it all 'some thought' and then put the confirmation of love halfway through the game, leaving the rest up for fluff :P

This. Agreed! The only addendum is that I wouldn't mind seeing a "loyalty mission" type thing very early in the game where she proves and he proves that they're on the same side.
Also, good morning. ^_^

Ooooh, I would love an early loyalty mission for Kaidan! With a nice reward at the end of course. And maybe his alternate outfit can be a tux. Or just a towel, that's fine with me too. I guess something to do with Rahna would be the obvious thing, right? Anyone else have any ideas?

Also...speaking of towels...how do you think biotics manage to keep their amp socket thing clear of water when they're showering? Does Kaidan have a little plug he has to push into the back of his head every time he wants to take a shower, go swimming, etc? Haha! It's not easy being biotic.

Awww, we won't revoke your fan card for that, Sia. Posted Image

BF is probably most like Carth (except he doesn't have a dead wife and missing son to complain about). He's very sarcastic and funny, and if you poke fun at him too much, he'll snark back at you. It's fun.

But Alistair and Kaidan invoke the hopeless romantic side of me. Posted Image

Shower cap. It's why his hair is so lumpy yet foofley at the same time.

It never gets washed

It would have been SO easy! And so much better than just asking TIM about Kaidan/Ash/Liara. They could even have just recycled a screen cap of the bit in the beginning of ME2 where you tell them to leave and they pause before reluctantly running off, last time you saw them before dying and everything. Of course pre-Ilos would be best. Ohhhh or the lockers almost kiss...

So that's why it doesn't move when he's running around being manly and killing things!

I'll admit it...I ran around a couple of times looking for 'Kaidan's' spot somewhere between the rubble just to trigger a flashback....when I found the sleeping pods I kept moving past every inch of it to see if it would trigger it. The pods were the closest thing to his station I could find...

@ Crimson...okay you got me there, my coke almost came back through my nose at the 'alternate towel outfit'...hahaha.

Haha i would lov having Kaidan run around in towel on battlefield!

Well, Kaidans loyalty mission could be Shep imo. A dinner or so, walk along the beach of Virmire :x

I see Rhana as something of the past that he already comes to terms with and moved on (he makes some comment about being 32 and that he had  a lot of time to come to terms with his past or so).
