I'm back after getting through my awakenings playthrough.
I don't want to spoil it for you guys but lets just say there  was a lot of swearing at the pc  and bioware over the ending. - pure laziness.

Luckily when I quit the game I have shirtless Kaidan on my desktop to look atPosted Image (love you Jho nh)

The more I read about the reponses to Awakening, the less inclined I feel to even install it. But indeed, hoorah for shirtless Kaidan.

As for mods in Awakening, More Hairstyles definitely still works, I'm also using CC Extra Tints and Tones, Bidelle's Makeup, and Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors, and I'm sure other cosmetic mods will have no problem.

Alistair's cameo was the one bright spot so far, although Anders the mage is funny, he just needs to understand that I'm taken, lol. Oghren is way more annoying than in Origins, I used to like his banter, but now he just seems over the top. Much like ME2, I don't have any desire to play anymore, but at least I was able to get through ME2 twice, I haven't even finished one playthrough of this game.

Thinking of Kaidan in Ferelden gave me the awful mental image of Kaidan wearing a Chasind robe. Noooooo! He's better off where he is!

Oh, the more I read about this, the less I want to finish Awakenings. I'm almost done too. I'll trudge through it tonight when I get home if the migraine hasn't debilitated me too much.

Then if it ends as badly as I am prepared for (and I have no spoilers, just expecting the worst), I'll go back and play some more of ME1 so I can go back to my happy Kaidan place.

Feeling the same way. It's odd how Bioware's two latest have so little replay value for me when I ran through every other game from BG1 and onward, at least 5 to 10 times each, even more for BG2. Not sure what it is exactly, I could blame the lack of interest in ME2 on the Kaidan cameo and the same for DA with none of the endings being satisfactory and knowing you'll invest a lot of hours for the game to end that way...but that shouldn't weigh more heavily than what IS in there. :(

I love Dragon Age: Origins, but the replay value for me quickly waned. I sped through my first game, and then replayed as a Coulsand a second time to do things better. Then I have struggled to play again. I want to go through with a couple of mods, and make my character "prettier" but doing some of those quests again... "UGH" is what comes to mind.

Staring at my screen now wondering what to do. The latest FF, unplayed. DA+Awakening, saves gone, unplayed. ME1+ME2, saves gone, unplayed.
Don't even have any inspiration to photoshop Kaidan...yikes hehe.

I'm with you re replayability of these games. I have to admit I gorgrd myself on both DAO & ME2 but after the first couple of playthroughs I really struggled to complete them. - for DAO it was the thought of doing the fade section & the deep roads again. I was planning on doing another run through of Awakenings but after that ending I'm not rushing into it.

Ugh, the Deep Roads. This is why my Dalish elf has not been completed. Hate the Deep Roads so much. Hmmm, maybe the roommate or boyfriend will play God of War III this weekend, and I can watch them play that while I work on Shenko fanfic.

Now that I would love as well..watching someone else play a game while I tinker away a bit. Sadly the boyfriend only likes racing games. Which means I turn up the volume on my headset to wash out the sound of cars turning corners round after round after round

<snip Kaidan comfort pic>

:? Thanks. I think I can remember most of what I wrote (I didn't have much because I got stuck), but.... there were other fanfic things on it as well as some school things. I've called the school, the dr's office, looked in my car, all associated bags.... Sigh. Knowing me it's probably somewhere really obvious, like on my desk, but I'm not having any luck finding it.
Could I get one last reminder of what the Normandy VI says when Shepard and ground team get back to the ship? "Stand by, shore party - Decontamination in progress - something about XO pressley..."?

Thanks!
Work's quiet this morning so I'm taking advantage of that and trying to rewrite what I lost, so I can update the writer's block.

Ugh, that really sucks, I hope you find it soon.  I know when I lose things, it's right when I give up hope of finding it that it reappears.

I don't want to sound like I'm just bashing Awakening, there are good things about it, but it's not what I hoped it would be, and I wasn't even bothered by the lack of your romance interest, or the ability to romance the new characters.  It's mostly just the lack of Origins depth that turns me off, and knowing that your choices from the main game don't matter much here.

This weekend I'll probably finish that game, and try to finish the Ashley drawing I started a while ago, along with the Dragon Age fanfiction I started.  The weather is really nice too, so I want to go out and have fun while I can...I just need to skip sleep or something, not enough time to do everything in two days!

Thanks - I know, that's how it seems to work! I lost my school ring and went moooonths without finding it. I finally called and got the form to replace it when lo and behold I discovered it up in the floor of my parent's car. I still don't know how it got there... but I was glad to have it back.
Ashley drawing? ^_^

Yep, I tend to lose things, look for them for a while, finally break down and buy a replacement, and then miraculously, the thing turns up again.  Posted Image  I think it's a conspiracy.

Here's the Ashley drawing, it's not finished, but I gave it to the Ash thread to celebrate their 300th page a while back.  I want to put in a real background and touch up the details now.  I don't think Kaidan fans mind seeing Bikini Ashley, right?

Don't mind at all, Teen.

I'm still hoping one day you'll treat us to a yummy Kaidan pic since I think you've done such a gorgeous Ash pic there.

This happened to me once as well. My flashdrive was never recovered... I lost 2 years of Inuyasha fanfic and a few ME oneshots. What was horrifying was anyone could have picked it up at school and I'm in the fanfic closet yet.

I am very sorry for your loss. It sounds silly, but anyone that's had it happen knows

Thanks. I'm definitely in the fanfic closet around here too, so it would be.... awkward for someone here to find it.    Wow, 2 years of Inuyasha fanfic lost... :o That would be so frustrating!

I really like the bikini Ash pic, nicely done! She was my Shep's best friend so I've got no problems with pics of her.

Yeah... and some of the ones I was working on were um... let's just say that if anyone's read Malpractice, take that and up the controversial and possibly offensive side x10. I hope my name wasn't on that disk :pinched:

How is everyone today? Shuffling through DA I see?

I havn't played Awakening that far but I must say I like it. Playing as a human noble you connect really good to your origin through Nathaniel. I would honestly don't mind romancing Nathaniel, some great tension there :P

Oh, I definitely have plans to do that, still.  I just needed to get my unfinished stuff out of the way first.  The plan was to have Ashley standing in front of the fish tank in Shepard's cabin, so that's why the "lighting" is so flat and busted right now on this pic.  I'm super critical of my own art, that's why I always preferred oil painting to acrylics, there was a lot more leeway to fix mistakes when you're waiting for oil paint to dry.  Drawing in Photoshop is great, but it's still weird to me sometimes.  And I need to find some photo references of dudes to use for a Kaidan drawing, I'm totally not used to drawing guys.
