It'd make sense that it'd mention a potential LI in the party since those ads use people nearby to hook people in. I just got a thought...

*Shepard is changing clothes*

Kaidan: Shepard... granny panties? Really?

Shep: You should see my new sophist amp

*turns around*

Kaidan: Oooooh. Now that... Shepard, you are hard to step away from.

OK, in the interest of fairness, I just want to say that BW did a lot of things RIGHT with ME2. We all know where they failed, but there were a lot of things I really liked about that game.
1. Improved combat system. Head and shoulders above ME1. I almost never used biotics or my tech powers in ME1 because they took so darned long to recharge, the battle was practically over by the time I could use them again. I'm actually enjoying my Adept playthrough, something I couldn't have imagined in ME1. Then again, I liked Gears of War, and this cover system seems to have been lifted wholesale from it.
2. More interesting side characters. The asari bartender is worth a DLC all by herself, enjoyed seeing Gianna again, liked new ones like Kal'Reegar and even minor ones like Seryna were interesting. Yes, I miss my old ones, but that didn't make the new ones worthless or uninteresting. Maybe not as LIs but it was good to have things fleshed out a bit.
3. Reunion with Wrex. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Always loved him and never let him die in any of my playthroughs. And he has excellent reasons for not coming with you: helping his people, something my paragon Shep encouraged him to do in ME1.
4. More interesting hub worlds, like Illium & Tuchanka. A lot of replay value for me is in whether or not I like spending time in a particular "universe". If it's engaging, I don't mind doodling around doing minor side quests; if it's sterile or depressing, I stay away, like the Citadel in ME2. But I like Illium, it's beautifully realized and works for me as a futuristic "Hong Kong" type of place. Tuchanka's a mess, but what else would it be? Lots of good interaction there.
Just to say, I don't think anyone (except Joss Whedon) actually sets out to p**s off the fans or make a bad game, but sometimes people lose perspective. Just because they see these main characters every day and deal with their stories doesn't mean we do, and what might seem perfectly sufficient to them is not nearly enough for those of us waiting years for a story resolution. If you think about it, by the time ME3 comes out (2011, according to IGN), most of us will have been waiting nearly five years for a conclusion. I don't think they'll string it out that long to deliver a ROCKS FALL, EVERYONE DIES ending, unless they plan on going into hiding shortly thereafter.

Yes there are are good things about ME2 (and DA:A for that matter) as well as things that don't always make sense or don't satisfy all players. I also think that each of us may be satisfied by different things in a game.

For example, I really liked a lot about the ending in DA:O.  For years people have complained about not being able to talk with one's companions after the final battle or being able to go back and complete unfinished quests. So I was very satisfied with the coronation and being able to talk to people as well as being able to go back and finish quests.

I guess that while I don't really believe that ME3 will end in a ROCKS FALL kind of way, particularly given indications such as the Casey Hudson interview talking about having satisfying conclusions to the ME 1 LI stories, what concerns me at times is simply that the gaming industry does to be focusing more and more on game stories where angsty and darker stories seem to be viewed as "better" and where happier conclusions seem to be viewed as representing poor story telling. I am also occasionally more pessimistic about the future of game stories, since EA Games,  which is one of our local employers, seems to be indicating, at least in our local newspapers, that stand alone games are a losing proposition and they are looking more and more towards on-line gaming and simpler stories. I have a high appreciation for Bioware but I would bet that given their corporate connections they don't have the final say at times and that has an impact.

And who knows...there may be lots of hiding places in Canada. Posted ImagePosted Image

Ahh so it depends on who is present with you in your squad. I wonder what it would say if I took my femshep there with two girls. Would it say anything?

Goodmorning all :)

Doug, thanks for the calendar, looking good :D

About Awakening, it's still lying here unopened, doubt I will open it any time soon. I will need a whole range of happy romantic stuff (games or movies/books) to build up some defenses for DA.
I was so hesitant to buy the expansion, not sure why I even did other than giving myself the option to play the game. Since I can't bring myself to it, I've had enough. Not going to automatically buy everything coming out of Bioware anymore. Gaider and his DA writing are just nowhere near what I find truly enjoyable and the bitter taste it leaves me with just proves it's not my cup of tea. Which is a shame, because I never felt that way about a Bioware game before. It's not proof of excellent writing to trigger such emotion in a person, because the emotion is one of shere dislike of a story and dark setting. DA has a lot going for it, but the knife twisting is the thing that kills the rest for me.

ME2 is a lovely game, though it feels lacking. But I know I'll pick it up again to play DLC or after a runthrough of ME1 again for a more complete story. The strength of Bioware games for me has always been the replay value, happy ending or doom and gloom it's always been MY choice and I often replayed a game making opposite choices from before just to get the darker side. Again MY choice.

Forcing me to chose between choices never truly happy, all with an edge, is just not my thing. And I find that rather sad, because I love Bioware.

We'll see how it goes for ME3, can't really compare it to DA, thankfully, but I feel the writing behind the trilogy just suits me better. Which is a matter of taste, something that was never an issue concerning Bioware games before.

I'll be leaving Awakenings and DA alone for a while yet and will happily go through ME1 and 2 again. Hopefully at some point they will add Kaidan related DLC, small or big it doesn't matter, because that alone will boost ME2's replay value sky high. Yes one single character can do that for me...it's that easy :P
Kaidan doesn't have a huge amount of dialogue, but he's a character I feel drawn to nonetheless. Once again kudos to his animators/writers and Sbarge :kissing:

Awakening... in the first 20 minutes of Awakening I feel like I got massively trolled by BioWare (don't worry, nothing to do with Alistair, you'll know what I mean).

Although Sheploo don't look half as good in a tux as Kaidan. :police:
Make FemShep players very happy indeed.

Well not for a while yet :)

And I'm still curious to see what of the Kasumi DLC is supposed to make femshep players so happy. So what Shepard was wearing in the trailer is ME's tux? Hmm.

Some people are speculating what should make FemShep players happy is either:

- FemShep's new outfit (not seen yet since FemSheps aren't allowed in trailers)

- Garrus and Thane's new outfits

- Michaelangelo's David's flacid penis

All three are ultra stupid, for various reasons.

Honestly, if this DLC was to make femsheps happy, the trailer should have included said femshep. But that might "confuse" people *rolls eyes*

Oh yes 'David'....almost forgot about that. Hmm, oh well that may have made Christina very happy. Just the opinion of one woman though, in the end ;)

You know what I actually quite like awakening, the alistair thing is unfullfilling but at least it's recognised, don't get the trolled by bioware thing, how do you mean angry one?

I am however seriously worried about the ending, haven't got there yet but everyone seems really mad about it :-S

As for the dialogue I don't mind it, I've had a few conversations so I woldn't say it's lacking, just different to the first one, may get worse later on, don't know yet obviously ;-)

as for me3 I'm not gonna spend 1/2 yrs stressing about what might happen, I'm hoping for Kaidan closure and I'm sure they won't let us down at least if the ending is crappy it's likely to be the same for all of the LI *sigh*

the game (Awakenings) itself isn't bad, the ending was a bit disappointing but really its just the one thing at the end in a text box that really P'd me right off. I really hope thay get rid of those damn text boxes for DA2.   Sure I would have liked to see more of Alistair (as well as finding out what  the people like Zev, who was going to hang out with my warden, were up to)and would have liked a bit more conversation wise but overall it wasn't that bad.

I'm not overly excited by the Kasumi dlc thing - big deal Shep gets an evening dress, & the boys in the squad get new outfits - big whoopPosted Image

I still have some hope that the ME2 devs will give us our happy Kaidan ending, hopefully they will at least give us some news soon.

Ugh textboxes...and double Ugh for buggy ones.

So was it confirmed it's a dress? Cuz I can see that 'tux' Shepaloo is wearing to go onto Femshep as well..it's basically the same as the Cerberus formal wear.

Well since the Liara comic is coming to an end, I'm sure there'll be an announcement about her DLC in the near future. For some reason I like to believe that they may create some ME1 LI DLC to deal with that...or that's just wishful thinking on my part (and I throw all ME1 LI's on one pile where DLC is concerned) :P

Nah Jho - no confirmation that its a dress, its probably just the same unisex outfit for femshep & sheploo.

Honestly I can't see them releasing ME1 LI dlc cause not enough people would buy it (or be interested in it) compared to the number of people who got new ME2 LI's. I will be mega peeved though if Liara gets dlc and Kaidan/Ash get diddly. (and I'm thinking that she might given that she is alive in everyones games).  Honestly I'd be happy if they just added a bit at the end so my shep can go back to the citadel after Collectors base & get Anderson to at least tell her where Kaidan is - I spent ages running around the citadel looking for him at the end of my first  ME2 playthrough, lolPosted Image

Ah true. We'll see what happens. Though with those "secret" soundfiles for Liara, there's no doubt she'll get a DLC, though it's predictable to say the least ;)

U know what we say that no one is interested in liara or Kaidan but their support is huge, look at the threads, look at the number of people in the groups ok so it doesn't compare to the phenomina that is Tali but neither do the other LI, I think far more people would buy a kaidan dlc than say Jack or Jacob, even more than garrus or thane, ultimately they want to make money and it won't have escaped their attention how much love Kaidan/

Liara/Ash have.

I've said it before, but I've noticed a lot of Kaidan/Ashley/Liara supporters were relatively silent while ME2 was in development, whereas the Tali fans were positively rabid.

So yeah it's all your fault.

Not mine though.

Thane had enormous threads as well. It's not like it's just Tali =p I might also add that this thread is the largest of the romance interests for female shepards IIRC.
