I also wouldn't be surprised if they showed up and they're your replacement Spectre.

I don't know, I just don't see that happening.  Not that it wouldn't make sense, but I just have a hard time seeing Bioware actually going there.  It seems that at least for the moment they want to maintain Shepard's uniqueness as the only human Spectre.

I think my poor Shep would become very defeated if Kaidan held her at gunpoint convinced still she was up to no good. It would be like "Just roll the Critical Mission Failure and let the Reapers win". It would be good angst drama though.

I think Kaidan pretty much said in the email that he does trust her...or that's what I got out of it. I think that there are other issues he's dealing with and they have more to do with him than they have to do with Shep. He just needs a little time. I don't see him ever holding Shep and gunpoint.

I think a part of Kaidan still doubts a little bit whether Shepard still holds to the same ideals she professed in ME1 (this particularly makes sense for paragon characters) but I agree that most of it is simply Kaidan needs time to emotionally process the fact that she's really, truly, alive.  I mean, could you imagine if something like this happened in real life?  I can.  I don't know what the heck I would think if I had found out two years after my brother died that he was actually alive.  And if I found out that not only was he alive but he was with... oh, say, Al Quaida... well, let's just say that when I think about it that way, Horizon actually seems like a fairly logical reaction.

Agreed...simply put I would say he's in shock.

Yup, agreed.

And this is why I think Kaidan would be able to force himself to point a gun at Shep and demand an explaination for the alliances. I mean, he and/or Ash might have been convinced that the Reapers were a lie of Sarens (though I doubt it - especially if they came with you to Ilos) and so Shep would have to convince them that he was geninuely helping the Galaxy.

Or one of the crew could shoot him/her like Ash could have done to Wrex (but my smoothed tongued paraSheps never had to face that ).

:lol:I think enough time will have gone by in ME2 and at the start of ME3 for Kaidan to have calmed down and the shock to have worn off. The email already shows him coming to terms enough that he's hinting to Shep he wants to get back together. I actually wonder if they had been able to have been alone on Horizon and he had been able to ask Shep about Ilos and she had been able to recall everything in detail if he wouldn't have gone with her even is she was with Cerberus. I guess we'll never know.

Shepard's sort of becoming Saren, especially if you kept the genophage research to yourself, you spared the rachni, you have the geth -- whether you rewrote them or not, you have an Asari Matriarch (Samara) on your side. I could see the Virmire Survivor confronting you on those similarities and you have to talk them over to your way of thinking. Hopefully, it won't be too tough a persuade...

Indeedie...

I've just had a nasty thought... what if you have another 'Wrex' situation - where if you don't convince your virmire survivor that your not a threat to galactic security, s/he gets shoot by one of the new crew to stop you from being killed too...

Bite your tongue.  Hard.  :D

Hehe, fair enough - though I'm not sure about the Spectre thing - Kaidan would probably go for it, but Ash...well, she's loyal to the Alliance, not the council... And Kaidan didn't seem a big fan of the council either "Their ignoring the writing on the wall" I think he said at one point.

True, but if it's the best way to get to YOU.... they'd do it in a heartbeat.  The Alliance says, "You can go after Shepard, BUT.... you gotta take her place..."

If there was ever a character deserving of a happy ending it's Kaidan. What an emotional rollercoaster he must have been on for all those years. Such pain and sorrow, anger and confusion.
I hope his dialogue in ME3 will reflect it, and that Shepard will show her emotions as well. *crosses fingers*

Speaking of Shep and her 'emotions'...in that vid of her rejecting Jacob and she's still talking all s-l-u-t-y was it just me or was she sitting there as Jacob came in with her back all arched provocatively. And I realize it could just be me since that entire romance makes me want to hurl.

The dashing Commander Alenko's life hanging in the balance, to be taken away at the failure of a charm/intimidate check? :crying: I'd renegade interrupt the hell out of Jacob for that.

I agree with this completely. I felt that Kaidan had gotten over the initial incredible shock of seeing Shep and had had the time he needed to give everything some rational thought. Regarding the trust issue, to me, the e-mail said "You must have a reason for what you're doing. Be careful, come back to me and we'll work things out - if you want to, that is", because of course he always has to leave himself a way out. ;) He does trust her, but he needs to adjust to the idea of her not being dead after all. He'll do that in the time that Shep is away preparing for the suicide mission; when she's done, they'll figure out where they stand with each other.

ETA: Boss came in, had to x out, and in the time it took for me to retype, everyone pretty much said what I thought too!

Sneaky:D

I think it's obvious that Kaidan Alenko is head over heels in love with Commander Shepard. He's always struck me as the kind of guy that was looking for the right one and would never even consider sleeping with someone unless he thought that person might be the right one. I think when he found Shep he knew she was the one. Of course this is from the perspective of a loyal Paragon Shep.

Oh, I agree, even in my non-celibate games, I'd have a hard time with that confrontation.  Doesn't mean Bioware wouldn't do it, though.  Heck, I would, as a writer!

(And it'd probably be Garrus or Thane with the sniper scope, just saying.)

Totally agreeee! One of the many things I love about Kaidan. <3 I was rather touched by his "I don't do those things lightly" type response to if you insinuate the teenagers at BAaT were getting it on like bunnies after lights out.  Kaidan is one man who's not going around, creeping into people's bedrooms, spouting sleazy lines about prizes.

I know! That would be so much worse. Much as I like Garrus, I'm afraid he'd be calibrating the guns from outside the Normandy if it went that far.

This^ The reason why Horizon hurts so much!  That's why out of the three li's from ME1, I feel like Kaidan is the most sommitted to Shepard, no matter what's going on in ME2/3

BAaT = Brain Camp, run by Canadix. Where Alenko was trained to be a biotic by bitter and violent turians.

BAaT is the abbreviation for the full name of "Brain Camp". One of the other ladies probably knows the full name of the program (which I will blame on medicine now).

And his email indicates that he has had nothing serious since Ilos. And that means no hanky panky with some dumb Citadel doc.

Biotic Acclimation and Temperance Training, a.k.a. brain camp as Kaidan calls it.  The place where he learned how to use his biotics.  The place with Vyrrnus and Rahna.

And bite you tongue!  Kaidan would never do that.  Never!

Oooh. Now I have definitely had enough of these disingenious insinuations! ^_^ I think Kaidan's more the kind of person to sit around brooding in a dark, stuffy apartment, not getting down on the dance floor at Flux (unless someone slipped Hallex into his drink). He says in his e-mail to you that (paraphrasing) he had even started trying to have a life again, and his friends convinced him to go out for drinks with a doctor on the Citadel. Which personally I interpreted that as, "I had a drink with this woman, but all I could think about was you".

Oooo, right, forgot that was the shorthand for brain camp.

And 'nothing serious' could translate as 'there was this one night'...

*ducks in the nuclear fallout bunker and radios over*

I mean, the same might hold true for Ashley - It would suck, but I wouldn't blame him or her - Shepard WAS dead.

Nah, Kaidan's spent the last two years been unwittingly breaking the hearts of single ladies and gentlemen throughout the galaxy!

Hey, the dude turned down a threesome with Shepard and a hot asari, because he was interested in a real relationship.  It's possible that he would have a fling or a one night stand while he thought Shepard was dead, but he wouldn't feel good about it, IMO.  And I can't imagine he would have told Shepard about the drinks with the doctor and how it was nothing serious, if it was anything other than drinks.  He wouldn't lie, if he was in a relationship with someone new.

Of course, he better not be in a relationship with someone new...Posted Image

Also, I want to see Kaidan join the squad in ME3 as soon as possible, and NOT as a quest near the end of the game.  Whatever else they come up with is fine with me, but I just know Kaidan needs to be in my squad (ahem, and in Shepard's quarters) ASAP.

I'm not going to argue and say that there isn't a remote possibility that Kaidan indulged in some sort of one night stand; however, if we are going to be true to his character, I think it is highly unlikely that - even in his grief - that he would indulge in one. His romance dialogues from ME1 suggest that he is interested in more than just physical connections.

Besides, he can always go to Extranet Fetish sites. What?

Open to interpretation at this point, maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Depends on how you view your Kaidan and if BioWare decides to make it obvious eventually or not. There's a solid case that indicates he just hasn't been intimate with anyone since Shepard, but some of us don't like the idea for whatever reason. My reason is that it makes him too perfect, too pure to think he just talked with that girl over drinks once or twice and that's it, I like to think maybe he was starting to like her and think he'd call her up for another date, then BOOM Shepard shows up...

Wellllllllll.....

Ok. Allow me, if you would be so kind (and please put down the shotguns I can already see being readied) to paint a picture. It will not be a wholly pretty picture, I'm a afraid, and if you exchange Kaidan for Ashley, it works for the other thread too....

Picture you fall in love with someone, you have one night of passion before a big mission, and then a month together. Then the ship explodes and your love is lost... Imagine you move on abit in the 2 years since that, and you have a few drinks with a doc from the citadel. You don't feel comfortable about it, but its nice to be talking to someone again, even if its not going anywhere. Imagine you give in to that desire to feel good again...even if it was for only one night....

And then imagine the love of your life returns unexpected out of the blue. Now, these aren't normal circumstances.... are you 100% sure your going to admit that you slept with someone else during that lonely time? Would they understand when it was only a few weeks for them? Would you be so confident as to admit to what you did even though you don't have a reason to be guilty...?
