I want Kaidan to get Alliance special forces training and grade up to N6.
Why? Him having his suit with N6 next to Shepard with her N7 would be extremely cute to me...

Man, I'm in a bad mood now about ME3...

Mind if I join the sulking? :(

*offers cookies*  Cookies always make things better.  And pie!

Still I know...it's hard to think positively about ME3 given some of the evidence at hand.  Right now  I'm trying to remain positive an not let the ANTs (Another Negative Thought) get to me. Posted Image

No, Tali had been intended, they scrapped her because they didn't think anyone would like her 'chicken feet.'  Garrus was entirely out of left field as romanceable, however, so that is correct.  They are big on fanservice.  However, the Kaidan fanbase and the Ashley fanbase combined can't outnumber the Tali base.  (MAYBE if we united with the Liara fans...)  So yeah, we're kind of easy to ignore.

And who the hell listens to girl gamers?

Yes you're right; I shouldn't have said "never intended", I should have said "intended not to be."  As a communication studies major I should have caught that.

Still, your argument seems to rest on an "either us or them" mentality; it precludes the possiblity of neither fanbase being ignored.  Which, again, is a bit shakey.

Besides, who says that there are no Kaidan fanboys?  And we all know that the juggernaut bromance/gay lobby can flatten puny BioWare!

They've set themselves up to do too much in one video game, IMHO.  Hell, the number of things they'd have to pull off in the end of the trilogy would be daunting even for a novel (which is what I actually know about).  ME3 may end up being make or break for Bioware, frankly.  I see it being difficult to pull off everything they need to do to come to a satisfying conclusion.  If they don't bring back the ME2 squad mates for ME3 as full squadmates, they've cheapened you busting your butt to get everyone out alive.  If they don't bring back the ME1 LIs, they're cheapening everything you did in ME1.  If they concentrate on the characters too much (and with 12+ it'll be hard not to), the main story will suffer.

Too many eggs, not enough baskets and something's gonna get dropped.

Agreed. Some group is going to get extremely disappointed.

I'm of the opinion that they already spread themselves too thin with too many characters and yet they're adding more with Zaeed and Kasumi. They spread themselves too thin already, and now they've got the ME1 LIs to deal with.

The conclusion I am forced to draw is that someone is going to be extremely upset. Dunno who yet.

I suppose it's possible they banish all the Love interests to cameo land. In the interest of fairness.
They'd probably bring jacob back though <_<

I try to comfort myself by thinking that we're forever tied to the Ashley fanbase as well, as whatever happens to Kaidan will parallel what happens to Ashley.

Ironic given for one to survive the other must always die. We're united and both loud enough to scare BioWare into doing it right.

I hope..

That is actually a very cute idea.

But I still want to see Kaidan as a Spectre.  it would be so awesome for both him and Shepard to be on equal footing, rather than him ranking under her.

@Shavon: Technically, Kaidan outranks Shep right now if you were reinstated at your previous rank. Staff Commander is a higher rank than Lt. Commander.

This and awesome<3

@ Sapphryelf  That is very true :D  Huh.  In that case, maybe Shepard will be serving under him (both professionally and  . . .) in ME3, if Shepard rejoins the Alliance.  I hope so!  In my head, Samara's quarters belong to Kaidan after she's fulfilled her pledge to Shep.

Yeah Spectres outrank any normal military ranks.

Also, were Kaidan come aboard the Normandy, Shepard is the captain regardless of rank and thus he'd server under her.. heh heh heh..

Optimistic appraisal:  If anyone can pull off that jumble of problems, it's Bioware.  They just need to take Kaidan's advice and not cut corners.

Maybe I'm putting too much thought into this, but the argument here seems to be that it takes less programming "man hours" (I guess) to make an disappointing story arc than a satisfying one, which isn't really the case (I mean, Jacob's romance sucks because the romance sucks, not because they spread themselves too thin).  It seems like the only way to cut corners with the LIs would be to a) kill them off or B) relegate them to unimportance.  We are already pretty sure that neither of those will happen; the only evidence against that seems to be "well they haven't always done what they've said," which isn't really evidence.  It seems like most of the naysaying comes from a desire to naysay, which is why I'm being so persistent on this.

Sure, they very well may have to cut corners somewhere in ME3 (it's certainly shaping up to be of Herculean proportions), but frankly there are much more likely corners to be cut.  Saying that it's undoubtedly going to be one of the LIs is, IMO, just silly.

Citadel members are expected to defer to Spectres though, so it's as good as outranking.
