Oh good, I'm not the only one who thought that Kaidan's picture on Anderson's desk was a bit weird. I'm wondering though if the pic was meant to be of the person who died on Virmire and it just bugged out and is always Kaidan. No idea though.

So.... A while back.. I wrote one of these for Tali. Inspired, tonight, I came up with one for Kaiden. I hope .. Well, like the Tali one.. I hope I have done him justice - And I hope that it meets with approval in this thread.

Basically. it's a letter - A letter written by whichever Normandy crew member (in this case, of course, Kaiden), sometime after the destruction of the Normandy, but before the galaxy as a whole knows that Shepard's back and breathing.

Shepard.

We didn't have much time together, you and I. We didn't have much time to talk, or to really .. There were so many other things I wanted to say. So many things I wanted to talk with you about. But.. well, I don't know. Sometimes it's not easy to find the words. We were always busy. That's life in the Alliance, I suppose. Always busy, always working, always off fighting something somewhere for someone else. A soldier's life.

That's the way you lived and the way you died. You died, and I didn't. Twice over, now. Do you remember, Shepard. After Virmire? Do you remember when we talked about Ash? I couldn't believe you'd chosen to save me. I .. Even now, I have to believe that it wasn't because you loved me, that it .. was for a more tactical reason. A more sound reason. A more real reason.

But maybe there is no more real reason than love? If not for love then why are we doing this.. Why fight at all? You saved me on Virmire, and you saved me in the Normandy, Shepard. I owe you my life, twice over. We all do. Did. You made me get in that pod. It was an order. I heard it in your voice. And even with the helmet on, I could tell. You had a way of holding yourself, Shepard. It brooked no argument. I got in the pod, you went back for Joker, and .. you never came back to me.

We were in lockdown for weeks after the attack, you know. Debriefing after debriefing. Over and over again. I couldn't tell them anymore than I'd told them the first time. Somehow I knew. I knew, Shepard. When the Normandy blew, I knew that I'd never see you again. You were so vital, so alive, so.. real. The galaxy is a darker place without you, and somehow, when you hit that quick-release button on Joker's pod, somehow I knew you weren't inside it.

Santiago was in the seat next to me. You remember her, right? Maintenance tech. When the Normandy blew, we were both looking out of the porthole and then we looked at each other and there was.. this flash of understanding between us. Everyone else said that they'd find you. That you'd find a way. You were Commander Shepard, hero of the Citadel, the first human Spectre. You'd accomplished so many impossible things that this was.. just another speed bump in your life.

But I knew. I knew it was over. That you were gone, and this time.. You had no backup, no escape route, no plan B.

It's been six months now. I can finally sleep without seeing the Normandy going up in fire and pain.

But I still can't close my eyes without seeing your face, Shepard. The way you smiled, the way you laughed. The way your eyes flashed when you were giving an order. I love you as much now as I did then.

I just wish you could be here for me to tell you.

I hope the Kaiden fans in this thread like it.

/sarcasm. It rubs me the wrong way he's using an AR when clearly he has had no training in the past.

I agree it rubbed me the wrong way as well he also use them in the cut sceans as well which always confuses me.

My thanks. My aim is to do one for each of the squad members from the original Normandy. They're not really things I can force though - I write them as I'm inspired to. If I write them too close to one another, they come out sounding kinda the same.

Naw, he has an assault rifle in Horizon because Kaidan hasn't bought ME 2 yet so all classes can still use all weapons.

He's also wearing medium armor.

Armor of any type seems to be scarce in ME2.
