Kaidan: Oh. Got any omnigel? That solves everything.
*Shep starts sobbing*
Shep: What do you want???!!! Why can't you tell me?

Hahahaha!
I recall when I read some other discussion way, way back in september-october regarding Shepard and babies... and I got this mental image of Shep waltzing out the door yelling "Bye hun, I'm off to save the galaxy again! Don't wait up!", leaving a very stressed Kaidan tending a baby. Incidently I kind of pictured him freaking out over some feature stove with the kid on his shoulder and a handkerchief tied around his forehead. Yes, my mind works very weirdly.

What's really bad... that is probably me as a father.
Hopefully Kaidan is nice enough to hug her and whisper soothing confirmations into her ear.

Morning again
I can't believe no-one touched this line. and you people call yourseves 'in the gutter'
Catching up:
Yeah I totally see Jenkins annoying the hell out of poor Kaidan until he did the biotics thing to shut him up, even if I do think it is a teeny bit out of character - but I see Jokers influence there too.
Poor Jenkins and his hero worship is no where near Conrads obsession. I'm sure Shep has nightmares about him stalking her.
@Taigin - I think Shep would like to settle down for a while, although I don't see her as being totally domesticated either. Just going on the comments she makes in game to Gianna ("must be nice having a job you enjoy") & to Grunt ("i don't plan on doing this forever"). So I just think she's getting a bit tired of it all. Maybe meeting Kaidan has made her want a more stable life.

Haha. I get the mental picture of Mordin in an apron with flowers and all the best methods of how to take care of the baby while both Kaidan and Shep saves the galaxy :x

I see neither Kaidan or Shep as a stay-at-home mom or dad. They seem pretty much married with work being soldiers at heart. Do they even know what a "normal" life is? I think they would get pretty restless.
I think isolating yourself at some colony trying to live a normal life would fit the type of hero that we get in DAO more (someone living a differrent type of life, being forced into the role of hero to save the world). Going back to the simple life seems more like the natural step for the unwilling hero.
Well atleast that's atleast how I see my Shepshe would be climbing the walls being a stay-at-home mom.
I could see this for Mia, but I could also see Mia getting tired of putting her life on the line and being ready to hang up her armor after the Reapers are defeated. Particularly for her, having lost both her life and her unborn child's life in the attack on the Normandy, I think maybe that would change her perspective a little.

Uncle Joker will get spaced, if he tried corrupting my Sheapard child. Now he can hang out with child, if he promises to be good with Joker, but I doubt that would happen though lol.

I could agree to that. *Chuckles*
"Jeff, stop trying to corrupt the commander's child, or she and Kaidan will probably space you."
"Oh come on EDI, it won't hurt the kid."
"May I remind you that the Normandy isn't a toy?"
"Not listening~ Now see here's the maingun button..."

Yea it all comes down to how you picture and play your Shep. Unintentional I was thinking out of the perspective of spacer Shep being brough up on different ships and stations having a somewhat restless childhood (It's the most popular background I use for my Shep). Being brought up on earth or as a colonist she might behave different as well as the psychological profile you give her.Joisan wrote...

I actually can see Kaidan as being a good dad; maybe awkward at first, but such the great boo-boo kisser and story teller. And can you imagine how protective he would be of a teen daughter? Haha poor girl... I think my Shep would be a good mother, but it wouldn't come quite as naturally to her, especially at first. All the baby stuff would be a little bit... weird. And Joker, well... haha I can see him being the one to teach the kids really important things (Joker:"now if you take into consideration the arc of the straw x the weight of the spitball..." Kaidan: "Joker!" Joker: "What?? It's physics!") and generally wanting to be around.

Hey guys, shameless self-promotion. In case any of you are interested, the Ashley letter's done. (Some of it probably only makes sense if you've manshep romanced ashley)
A bit belated, but wanted to let you know that it was lovely. Feel free to promote over here any time you get a letter done... I'm certainly looking forward to reading as many as you feel up to writing. They make me all teary eyed...
As far as the kid conversation goes, I think Kaidan would be a great dad... patience is a wonderful trait when trying to interpret kid-logic and behavior.
(Also, that whole sobbing "why can't you tell me what you mean?!" has happened to every single mom I know, myself included. Poor Shepard probably thinks it's just her though, since she hangs out with soldiers instead of families.)
ETA: And I totally want an Uncle Joker for my kids too! He'd be such a bad influence.

By the end of the Reaper battles in ME3 I can see my Shep wanting to retire to some sort of a normal life and leave the heroics to someone else especially if she had her favorite L2 biotic by her side.
The whole dying in the vacuum of space would have a lasting impact on her, especially since she was brought back and immediately forced back into combat without being given any time to come to terms with her own death. That’s just a ton of mental baggage to deal with.
If you haven’t read http://www.fanfictio...809961/1/Exitus yet you should, it’s the first few chapters of Sinvraal’s take on ME2. In the second chapter Joker asks Shep what her take is on things and she responds
"Five days ago I was on the SR-1, doing my job with the crew I trusted. Fours days ago I woke up on a table and a bunch of mechs tried to kill me. They tell me my crew and my ship are gone, and two years just went away. They tell me I owe Cerberus my life... then they tell me humans are vanishing and I'm the only one who can stop it."
Yeah I think after she takes care of saving the galaxy a few more times she going to be more than ready to walk away.

I completely agree, this is exactly how I feel! I can't see Shep or Kaidan as settling down and having kids at all, really....Although I have to admit, I'm biased, because I've never wanted kids, so my Shep doesn't either.

I could see my shep getting tired of banging her head against the political wall calling it quits after the reapers are stoped and settling down but any child of shep's would need bodyguards round the clock..... (TIM, several merc bands) just to name a couple problems to solve before the child would be safe.
Shep? Retire? Hardly, she wasn't even allowed to die.

I'm not so keen on kids myself, but I think my Shepard would want to at some point in her life, assuming it's possible with her rebuilding (good point, Sesh).

Geez I miss coming out in the morning for a quick Kai fix but there was no way this a.m.
So in catching up...
@ Shenze- Thanks for posting the link to Sinvraal's fic - it's very good!
@ Fort: So you're working on a new Parallex??? Yay! Will it post anytime soon? *big puppy eyes looking hopeful*
I actually think that Shep will make a very good mother and that she and Kaidan would be a great parental team. Shep has been managing a crew for awhile; those skills certainly translate into parenthood. While I don't see her sitting home with baby, I can see her managing motherhood much like every other working mother. And enjoying it for the most part. I mean, diapers are not my idea of fun, but fortunately nature gives women a couple shots of oxytocin (love hormone); endorphins, (pleasure and transcendence hormones); epinephrine and norepinephrine (excitement hormones) and prolactin, the mothering hormone which do help a great deal....
Also I see Kaidan as being the type of person who would enjoy and really participate in parenting.
This may also reflect my own biases. I didn't want kids for a long time either and my husband and I were married 12 years before we had a family. But when I finally got around to it (early 30s) I found out something amazing.... I liked it! And I suspect Shep might also but certainly long after she's finished saving the galaxy as we know it, once again.

Here are my tentative plans for the Parallax arc-
-finish Parallax
-start posting/write Apparent Magnitude, the prequel to Parallax that spans ME1
-write Nova, the sequel to Parallax/events of ME2
Hopefully by the time all of that is done, ME3 will be out and there will be a happy ending.
