When I make a femShep, I get out a piece of string and measure out facial proportions like I did in drawing I.

That would be helpful if you could actually tweak things like nose size, but it's SOOOOOO hard to make a character with a symmetrical face in this game because of the limitations.

I just made a new version of my renegade character, and I just tweaked the default Jane Shepard to make her.  It's pretty much the best way to get a decent looking Shepard without spending hours trying to figure out combinations of facial structures and noses and mouths that aren't wacked out.  So I just sexied up Jane, and it's working fine for me.

The nose is among the hardest thing to make correctly. On the 360 at least, you aren't able to get a full profile image. So it's clearly easy to get a protruding nose or weird brow or something...I'm pretty happy with my custom manshep but his nose may need adjusting. I saw videos of vanderloo Shepard, and a lot of the time vanderloo Shepard looks like

a) He's going to kill whatever he's looking at.

B) He's going to rape whatever he's looking at.

c) He's a psychopath.

d) He's incredibly angry.

e) He thinks he has an amazing idea that no one else knows about.

The mouths were the worst. Only 2 of them looked acceptable, the rest are like duck bills or goofy grins. :?

Pfft, it has taken me almost five ME2 playthroughs to realise that man, my main Shepard's nose and cheekbones-brow looks awkward. I wish you could like... rotate freely, not having the awkward "realistic" angles as we do now.

I can't seem to get one that doesn't have some sort of awkward feature. I just gave up. Maybe I'll see if I can make a cute manShep...

Morning peeps.

Ah, the difference between how your char looks in char creator and how they look in game combined with the 5-10min intro is a killer. I don't know how many times I've gone through the intro scene now :x. I usually think the face in char creator looks more "compact". I'm not super happy with the presets for Shep, her face have this tendency to look a bit childish. Hopefully they add more detailed sliders for ME3. What i'm really missing as some have mentioned is being able to change more with the nose. I would like to be able to combine size of nostrils, the tip being up or down and nose bridge size on my own.

Morning all. The mouths...don't get me started on those. Hate them. Every time I thought "hey that one looks normal" and I turn the cam, she still has a bad lipjob. Dunno what they used as reference but a duck sure comes close :pinched:

Morning Jho, yeah I'm the same with the mouths. I finally get one that I think looks ok from front on then turn to get a side view and my shep looks like her lips have been caught in an industrial vacuum cleaner, lol

One of few decent screencaps tonight. Tell you what - I hate lighting in this place.

Teh pic

Wtf when did this happen in the game?

It doesn't, it's not a scene.
If you're in the mess hall and stare long enough, you get the weirdest ideas of finding the best angle to shot some screens of Kaidan which is not a cutscene/dialogue sequence (I think we have all of them). I had some problems with erasing teh blue indicator from his stomach and elbow. Went good, I think.

About pretty FemSheps... I loved Fallout 3 for character creation, but even with all those options most of characters looked similar. If you check messeffect2faces.com, you'll see 90% of face codes beginning with 741, which is a "leftover" from modified default face (for the record - it's not the same as JaneShep, Jane is pre-modelled like Sheploo). My femShep is "751" too, but I don't find her looking like those other "7xx". What I find odd in most of other female Sheps is this thin lower lip, like it's constantly chewed. Along with lean, perfect triangle face, the effect is... Well, I don't like. Plus I don't like modded hairstyles.
Now I see a tendency of high rated femSheps with too much collagen injected. But they are getting better each day. Never used any of those codes myself thou, I'm in love with my Shepard :x (I even have one that looks a bit like me)

That's pretty much how I make my femSheps too.

The faces that I've tried to make before without just doing minor tweaking to the default face normally ended up with terrible profile views that you couldn't quite tell in the character creation screen.

Good morning everyone Posted Image

I suck at using the character creator in ME2 so I just use the faces database]http://masseffect2faces.com]faces database.  My main femshep is actually this one with the hair changed to red, the skin a shade paler and the blush color changed .

http://img205.images...janeshepard.png

If I didn't have to replay the dammed intro everytime I prolly would have been able to adjust the face till I found something I liked but after 1/2 dozen restarts I got too frustraed.

For DAO I used the toolset to create my toons, I spent hours and hours happily designing them but I never was able to get something I was happy with for ME2 on my own.

edit - this is my current DAO toon which I made from scratch in the toolset http://social.biowar...728/1445728.png, course I also use mods which ME doesn't have.  That's using the make up mod, eye color mod and one of the hairstyle mods.

*Sigh* As long as I have to wait to get WeGame working, I may as well tinker around a bit and see if I can create a Shep I like better. I seem to have an easier time creating Sheps I like in ME2 than ME1. Anyone else find this to be true?

Here's a post I found about reverse engineering your ME2 Shep for ME1, I used it for my last ME1 play through and it worked out fairly well.

*Looks at her new femShep in satisfaction* I forgot Chelsea's first rule of Shepard creation: find a preset you like and don't tinker with it too much!

I always have trouble getting the cheeks and jawline right.  Unfortunately it takes a while to actually see what she looks like though (what Bri said) because when she first wakes up on the Cerberus base she looks horrible.  i've lost count of how many games I've ditched because I decide my shep was ugly after playing for about an hour, lolPosted Image

I can't tell you how much I do this, and it is infuriating in 2 that you have to wade through unskippable cutscenes to look at her, then you have to wait until you find Wilson to get a really good look at her <_< I play on 360 (my PC is not good, lol, but I also like playing on 360 tbh) and find the character creation not so good in 2, anyone else? You have to cover her in make up to make her look good :? which doesn't impress me much.
And does anyone know why I can't use my Shepard as an avatar (can you only use her if you are a PC gamer, cos that seems a bit mean :crying:)
Oh, and good morning everyone :D

Jenova: You have to have a PC version of Dragon Age to use a custom avatar currently. If you can get a screenshot of your Shep from your 360 to your computer (either through a camera or a pc me2 user recreating your Shep for you) you can try the avatar upload.

I didn't find that I had to cover my Shep in makeup to make her look good. Since the characters are "soldiers" I try to find a balance between a simple elegance normally and tough soldier. It's hard to explain, but the make-up tends to work against the image in my head.

You know what the worst thing is, nostrils! WTF BioWare, what's with the nostrils, why are the noses so nostril-y  I don't want to see up Shepard's nose, thank you very much (Chakwas has a great nose) ME needs Oblivion type adjustments, imo!

The nice thing about DAO is if you use the toolset you can create a character morph and add it to your save game and then adjust the morph outside of the game if you want to tweak your appearance without having to restart the game.

I wish ME2 had something similar.

That's why I'm okay with playing on PC. With Fraps, I can get some angles on screenshots, to see how cheekbones, cheeks and jaw looks like: i42.tinypic.com/2cz8swz.jpg This applies to both ME and ME2. Profiles are the worst in ME, in the sequel you can pretty much see how profiles change the shape of nose bridge and overall the place where nose meets the forehead. I don't recommend 9xx, there's no distinction between those.. Just a flat, unnatural line.

@sapphy - yeah most of my Sheps wear minimal make-up cause it just doesn't fit in with my idea of battlefield preparation, lol

I don't have PC version of Dragon Age either, it automatically appeared after I registered the game and my avatar is one of my DA characters that's why it is confusing
I have a pretty good camera on my phone I can upload a pic to my laptop, how do I then import it to use on here? :)
I would prefer to use very little make up too, but they just look nearly dead when I don't
