I don't often take Liara with me.  Since my main character is usually a biotic and Kaidan, who never leaves my squad, is as well, I always preferred to have Ash as my third to add a bit more strength in the combat area rather than another biotic.  After Virmire I vary in who fills Ash's former spot... sometimes it's Wrex, sometimes it's Garrus.

Just coming in to say I got ME1 & ME2 a few weeks ago and needless to say, I've been waving the Kaiden banner ever since. 
Way to go Team Milky Way for providing my FemShep a fine male specimen such as Kaiden!

And speaking of gutter, I came up with a very gutterific take on the regulations pic.  Just add "in bed" to the end of that sentence...

I got the elevator talk wiht Garrus, purely because my team consists of shep, Kaidan, & Garrus - the girls get to stay on the Normandy for the duration.  I did force myself to use them all once though to get the squadmate achievements, lol

After my first few playthroughs I pretty much leave getting Liara till last.  But as Joisan said my Shep is usually a biotic and I find that Kaidan & her can handle anything thrown at them.
