Sia, thanks for the report! You really took one for the team there! I'm pleased that my initial impressions of the Jacob romance turned out to be accurate...no matter what I pretended to think of it on April Fool's Day.
When your husband looks at the end result of the romance and says, "Yeah, you're better off with Alenko/Garrus," you know it's bad.
Hehe, I've decided that Jacob's romance was a joke/experiment by the writers, they wanted to see how extremely cheesy they could make a romance option and what the reaction from the fans would be. That's the only rational explanation for it I can come up with.
I do get bitter, sometimes, thinking that they wasted the resources on Jacob, when they could have given the Virmire survivor a larger role.
I actually thought this way about all of the ME2 femshep romance options. they were all just too cheesey for me.
Jacob - I really don't need to say anything
Garrus - the whole work off some stress angle turned me off and I thought it was out of character for both Garrus & Shep, and when he turns up at her cabin its just too cringeworthy to watch
Thane - apart from the fact that I wasn't interested in him, his memory thing creeped me out, and the "thane I want you" written on the dialogue wheel (I know they weren't the actual words spoken) after he'd just been going on about his dead wife turned me off totally.
None of them came close to the Kaidan romance.
