Wiiiiiiiiiiin! I am still able to recall my victorious completion of ME1 and that sweet tune began playing. Unexpected and seemingly not sci-fi related and yet it just...fit...so well. I want to be a bona fide spaceman damnit! It's been a childhood dream/wish of mine though I've long since accepted the very real possibility that I may never get to travel amongst the stars. Instead I hope that I get to see humanity take its first steps beyond our solar system by the time I'm an old man. There's romanticism in it (though space can be a very dangerous and deadly place,) yet there's also the pragmatic realisation that at some point we are going to have to expand and find new sources of raw material if we want our civilization to continue. Humanity has its flaws yet as dark and cruel as our nightmares can be, as beautiful and compassionate can our dreams be. I have not given up hope on humanity.
That would be an interesting topic for discussion. Especialy in present situation with NASA facing budget cutbacks, cancellation of Orion, and everything basically happening in and around ISS. ESA's work seems a little sluggish, and China...as one author out it (very nicely imo)...the red dragon is on the rise.
alas, this isn't the right place
