Forget sterile, it wouldn't even be viable.
It is almost certain that it would be unable to produce certain vital proteins, or that it would produce malformed proteins due to competition between genes, or that perfectly working proteins would interfere with each other, or any combination of the above.

Also, this talk of "turning Shepard into a Quarian" is patently ridiculous.  In that case, in what sense is he even Shepard anymore?  Assuming differences in Quarian brain structure, it would seem an impossibility to take the trillions of connections in the human brain that make Shepard who he is, and translate that into an equivalent Quarian structure that would produce exactly the same personality traits, memories, etc.  And of course you can't just have a human brain sitting in a Quarian body, that is preposterous.

I get that lots of you want to have little Human-Quarian babies running around, but this isn't D&D.  There are no "half-elves" here.  It just isn't do-able, at least not in any real way.  Like I said, I think you'd be restricted to creating a designer Quarian baby that looks a little like Shepard, but which doesn't actually share anything in common with him genetically.
