Idk, for the Whedon fans, it is pretty cool that Nathan Fillion is in it...

If I had to live in there, I'd be afraid that any cochroach shuffling around might suddenly yell "ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL" and ruin my day.

Looks like a tree to me...add some decent looking bark to it, some lush leaves and vines, place it in the middle of an exotic forest, and that'd be my getaway with Tali.

The giving away the daughters is an ancient tradition that simply occurs now out of a sense of history and doesn't have the same meaning now. Tali also is from a different culture then ours, never mind that not even all religions have their fathers give away their daughters among our own species.
I am also a fan of equality among partners. I don't want to just protect my significant other. I want to share the burdens of life. I find it insulting to your partner that it's on you to provide and protect her.
I think you may be looking at it too harshly. Yes, I too believe in relationships built upon equality. My GF and I stand together in as many things as we can, and I never forget the fact that she could easily kick my ass if she so chose. Got to love dating a Black-Belt...
But, I digress. My point is that Shepard wanting to Build Tali a home is not a gesture that implies she could not do so her self, nor is it saying that she can not protect herself, I mean with Tali being a frakking Sergeon with her Shotgun, it's a given. What Shepard's gesture would signify is that he wants her to know that this place, this Home on the Quarian home world, means as much to him as her, it is "thier" place to feel mutualy protected from the World, Galaxy, etc. The Fact that Shepard would Build it for her is just a sign that he would put in anytime and effort required to not only demonstrait his Love, but to make her Happy.

I don't believe building a house would disrupt the equality of the relationship. I was just arguing against the comparison of Shepard taking over the roles of her father. Her father had a fairly minor role in her growth, all things considered.
And you should pick up martial arts too. I find physical competition with one's girlfriend to be one of the most enjoyable things.

Thank you, I wasn't going to reply to that because sometimes people are touchy. In no way am I being sexist. I am speaking from experience. I have been married now over 11 years. My job is to take care of and provide for my wife. Does my wife think her job is to take care and provide for me? Yes. You know real love when you put something/someone before your own well being. This (in my head anyway) is how I picture Shep & Tali's love, not some one night stand or fling.

I won't actually build the house. I'll just symbolically put down the first brick or something, and have the Salarians I saved from Thane's recruitment mission finish the rest.
But it would be more romantic if you build the house for her.

Ouch. Are you kidding? The Last time I tried to take her Cell phone from her to text an annoying Gal-Pal of hers something she *really* wanted to say instead of the Lie she planned, I never even saw the snap kick to the back of leg, and the Take down that followed was WAY less than enjoyable. (Pause) I mean, the, Um...*apology* that she gave me later was Awesome with a capitol 'A', but still...Pass on the sparing, thanks.
