if thats their angle its not working, ME2 made me love tali more, and as I went through the game I loved miranda less and less

You know, to be honest, I kinda feel Tali got a bit more "spotlight" than any other LI (which I'm certainly not complaining about!). Granted, it wasn't as superficial as Miranda, where they constantly bring up her appearance, have close-ups of her ass, etc. 

But with Tali, you run into her right as the game starts, she wants to come with you but be can't (she really stresses her mission is important) you hear her talk about you in her audio logs, the comments like her "I got better, Shepard. I got you" that were incredibly tender when you consider it was pre-romance, the talihug, etc.
