I completely avoided all ME2 media, so I had no idea she was a LI until I heard Kelly talk about Tali, and then finally confirmed when I talked to Tali after her trial.
I was convinced they were going to show her face in the romance scene though, so when that didn't happen, it was a pretty big FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-- moment for me.

What's Legion's "3 is greater than 2, 2 is greater than 1" speech? I want to make sure I have it right.
ALERT: We made a horrible error.
legion says:
"An analogy Heretics say one is less then two. Geth say two is less then three."
Had to clear that up.
Hope its not to late.
Sounds good.
But we are 100% sure that this is the correct line now.

And for ME2 I spent the whole time shaping up my thing to save everyone Including the one I love Tali

It's hard remembering your first playthrough, but I distinctly remember being more intrigued by the Quarian/Geth history lesson than the other backgrounds. It was actually Tali and Wrex who I hardly paid attention to and after 6-7 playthroughs they ended up being my 2 favorites. Funny how that works. ME2...wow, thank you Bioware. The best dialogue in the whole game.

Can't remember exactly, but it didn't take too long. I'm pretty sure it happed in steps: the first thing I liked was her suit which I thought was very origional and, frankly, awesome looking. Next when I heard her talk I fell in love with her voice. (There are certian accents that make me melt like manly, MANLY butter) after that the love grew from hearing her talk about her life. Tali is such a tragic figure because she is the rarest of all things: an honestly good person, and it's because of this unforgivable sin that the world will constantly try to beat her down and break her spirit.
Depending on how you play Shepard, you can be the first really good thing to happen in her life.
It's like. . .neither Ashley or Liara really need you, but Tali. . .well. . .I think she'd follow you into the depths of Hell.
She is willing to worth with a Geth because of you, after all.

I hear ya on the accents. Leliana from DA cut through me lika butta...like two sticks of butta. Tali the same way. Based on the fact she was thinking and talking about you while you were dead, shows depth to your "she'd follow you into the depths of Hell". I think somewhere at Bioware HQ there's a severe Tali fan :innocent:

Yeah, I still loved the scene. But for some reason, I had utterly convinced myself they were going to show her face (maybe it was her "I want you to see what's under this damn helmet" line, which I heard like 10 times since I kept talking to her after missions

I always thought Tali was adorable in the first game, but she didn't get a ton of screen time and wasn't a romance option. Plus, I also adored Liara in ME1 and was happy with her romance.
I didn't read a single spoiler for ME2, so I had no idea what the romance options would be. After I ran into Liara on Illium, I was thoroughly disgusted by how she had changed, and I got back on the Normandy totally bummed, as Jack wasn't appealing at all and Miranda still hadn't opened up to Shepard at that point in the game. I went to go recruit Tali not feeling particularly thrilled with any of the romance options. When I played Tali's "I wish Shepard was here" diary I was like "aw, that's so sweet!," but I still figured she wouldn't be a romance option because she hadn't been in the first one. After the mission, Yeoman Chambers clued Shepard in and the rest is history.
Same thing here. I never read a single thing about ME2 (not becuase I didn't want to spoil anything, but simply because I wasn't sure I wanted to play it)
So when I did rent it and was playing through I was happy to see Tali had a cameo, but didn't expect to ever see her again. After I found out I was able to get her in my squad, I was overjoyed, but it was when I was talking to Kelly and she said "I think she want's to be more than friends" that my brain goes:
"YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I was never so happy at a video game. Would have kissed BioWare on the mouth just then (and with tongue).
The main reason I bought the game was because of how much I love her character. She really makes the game for me. I know we're just getting into 'sad' here, but, if she's not in ME3, I'm not sure if I'll even play it. . .

lol this thread is full of so much love. Nobody comes in 2nd place when it comes to Talimance :innocent:
My main problem was determining why I ran a search for "Mass Effect Tali", and if I only started liking her after reading so many posts about every detail about it. When you read that much love and dedication from fans of a character, it changes your opinions of them. I wish I hadn't seen any ME2 media cuz then I could say without a doubt that I formed my own opinions with no outside influence.
Can't deny these feelings tho
*sigh* I wish Shepart were here.

I have no worries about that. She's a crucial character to the plot, and Bioware obviously loves her.
