I did. In my personal ME story, she's been there with Shepard for the whole thing.

And in my latest ME2 playthrough, she's been there right after Freedom's progress too! 

Even though it doesn't make an "technical" difference, when Tali says "I watched your face when Williams died" means so much more to me after ACTUALLY having Tali in my squad on Virmire. It's part of the RPG experience: doing things that don't really matter but have sentimental value to you.

I know, I did too and it really had meaning to it!  You're able to enjoy ME 2 and the Tali romance especially so much more if you've played ME 1.  When I look back, I'm actually glad that she wasn't a romance in ME 1.  The other ME 1 romances were "straight to the point" in what was desired, but with Tali you actually got a chance to "make friends" first (and while some people say "you can't be friends first", I think the path to a great relationship starts with a good friendship).

I read the story in the link in your signature...

There are two key ingrediants to a great captivating story.

First ingrediant is emotion. Its obvious you were feeling emotion about what you were writing about, and it was evident from the first word.

Second key ingrediant is command of the language. There were no mistakes with grammar, structure, style, spelling, or speed of thought. The descriptive words allowed a picture to be put in my mind, and masterfull use of words allowed sounds... even passage of time to go through. You expertly showed a "racing" of the mind as time slowed.

Give yourself a pat on the back, a grammar **** loves your story.

PS: If there were any errors, They escaped my eye, or at least didn't detract from the story.

I urge you, if you write a story... a full blown story, and publish it. Send me a message and I'll buy a friggin copy, you're good.

It took me five reads to get the spelling and grammar correct, and there is still one tiny error I need to fix, if I remember right. I still feel the need to go in and tweek the story, but I don't want to 'over-tweek' it and mess up whatever flow I might have had going when I first wrote it.

Anyway, thank you again and I'll tell you what; if this lazy butt of mine ever gets into gear and actully does think up a full origional story to write, then I'll send you a signed copy myself. 

. However you have inspired me... I plan on starting a research run to make sure every. little. detail. is accurate when I write a fan fic... starting from ME1 and progressing through ME2.... But I bet this thread will still exsist.

Yeah it does. Shepard yelling that Tali saved the Citadel/etc. in her trial also just plain "works" knowing that she was right there in the battle of the Citadel with me.

I replayed all of ME1 some time in Feb to do a no-romance + all side quests run. It was a little painful at first, going back to the old combat. I had also gotten spoiled by Tali's incredibly well detailed model in ME2. But it was worth it!

Haha that scene is so hilarious when you're a bachelor  And btw it's funny you say that cuz I'm about to replay ME1 where I actually HAVE a LI...my only import that has a LI was my first and I did no side-missions. I knew Tali was gunna be a LI in ME2 so I got several Single-Shepard imports all set up  now I need to get with Liara or Ashley so I can see the BAH BUM BUM ramifications in ME3.

I do a little bit at times, but I promised myself I wouldn't because that's just the way things happened.  I don't believe in fate per se, but you never know what's going to happen.  Who knows, if I had stayed at the deep end during that ten minutes, my stepsister might have drowned instead.  I'm sure there have been a time or two that I stayed home instead of going to eat out, and avoided a car accident that could have permanently killed or disabled me.  You have no way of knowing, so I think it's just best to live life and not think about it.  Really tore up my dad though.  He'll still bring it up from time to time and say "what if we did this instead...."  This was like 6 months before the new CPR protocol came out for 30 chest compressions to 2 breaths; the old protocol we used was 15:2.  He'll be like "I wonder if we would have done it the 'right way' (i.e. 30 compressions) would he have lived?"  He was totaly full of water though in stomach and lungs, so i'm pretty confident there was no chance to bring him back.  In reality, CPR only works for like 15 or 20% of people.

I agree with you about fate. It's a scary thought, but I really do beleive that everything is just a wild series of random events where the smallest choice can change the world.
And, who knows, you might just have saved your stepsisters life by going over to her. It's always okay to feel bad, but never good grief take over. It sounds like you did a really good job of understanding and mourning what happened, but without letting it control you. I've seen some good people turned bad because of things like that.

it's funny you mention getting into a car accident though, a few years ago I got into a real bad one that I would have missed all thogether if I haden't had taken the extra minute I did that morning to admire the sunrise.
Like I said; stupid little choices can have major results. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.

Hopefully good, though.

LOL I thought the exact same thing when I first played ME1. When he asked me to hold out my gun I was thinking he was gonna frame me for a murder or something. Turns out he was just a creepy stalker guy.

Bevel Emboss drop shadow gauss blurr Highlight darks and lights color overlay and color saturation increase. Also i changed the color channels and added eyes or well AN EYE for tali lol. lots of things done to the original image xD

He's more 'stalker' than 'fan', hence why he tries to 'become you' in ME2 by getting replica N7 armor, but to be fair: he isn't a bad guy.
After all, he does go on to open up a charity in your honor.

I didn't like the LI's in the first game... personality and their views etc... I just could not connect with them as I did with Tali's character...
