by this point in time a concensus has been reached and sadly there is nothing we can do about it..

Yeah probably, it's just fun to talk about and we've helped add a few pages of on-topic stuff by including Tali-femshep relationship theories into the mix.

I agree. It's totally on topic how much I want Tali.

I'm the only one who got " rejected* " by her so why shouldn't it be discussed on the Tali thread ^_^

*lead on

Awwwwwwwww girls need Tali love too ^_^

but.... wont get it  lol

Emphasis mine.  So, is it cheap that they changed their minds on Tali being a love interest?  Because she was supposed to be a LI for ME1 before they decided that the chicken feet would weird people out.  Does that mean it was a mistake for her to be a LI in ME2?

Not 100% sure but I think Tali and Garrus were not intended to be a LI in ME1 and because thousands of fans demanded it. There is no romance dialogue for Tali or Garrus in ME1. So you need to get thousands of FemSheps together and all yell "TONIGHT, WE DINE WITH TALI!".

Well they already put the dialogue into the game apparrently, so that tells me they wanted to do it, but pulled out for some reason. I think Bioware/EA is still afraid of crossing the boundary into "gay."  I mean, you can use the excuse for the Asari "Oh, they're not really women, they have no gender: they just look like women."  Therefore, they are not gay by romancing femshep, and femshep is not technically gay because an Asari could be considered a man or a woman.

Putting Tali, or any other character like Miranda or Kelly as a full romantic option for femshep would represent a true homosexual attraction, and I think they are to worried about the media catching that again and blowing it out of proportion.

Yeah. Feels like a serious argument is about to errupt soon and I don't exactly understand why because it seems like everyone is on the same side. :?

I didn't catch any hostility or irritation, I think we're having a pretty good discussion.  I have things I agree with on both sides

Hey, if it's just me that's getting that feeling, then so much the better.
I'm all for making Tali love, not Tali war.

According to a dev interview Tali was originally going to be an LI but they balked when one of the devs pointed out that some people might not go for the "chicken feet"

However...I think our female Talimancers may be looking too much into it for the sake of thier own Love of Tali. Now, there is a general consensus that Tali Love should be shared by all, and I completely agree. However, from a Story standpoint, Tali being Bi-Sexual just does 'not' mesh with everything we have been told or learned through various subsequent means about her. Basically, there is nothing to indicate that Tali would want to 'be' with a women.

Oh please. I gotta love this. I've heard it so much. Tali just doesn't seem bisexual. How ridiculously vague is that?
"Are we allowing dreams into evidence now?"
And I love this part too.

Basically, there is nothing to indicate that Tali would want to 'be' with a women.

It's nuts! What the hell is that supposed to mean? It's all soooo subjective man. There is nothing there to indicate that she would not want to be with another woman. It's simple.

Also. Anyone who watches the youtube link with the missing dialogue and says there is no romance in it is not listening very carefully (if at all).

I love hearing things like "cannon" too. That is so rich. Cannon? In Mass Effect? The series isn't even complete people! Anything can happen. And Bioware would never make anything feel tacked on. They are legends in videogame story-telling!

Hey Talimancers. Just logged in, and I've been trying to get up to speed about this 'discovered' missing dialogue in the ME2 PC sound files. Ok...I watched the YouTube Video, and yes I could easily see how Tali's use of the Linking suit dialogue could be constrewed as her being interested in a romantic relationship with a Female Shepard.

However...I think our female Talimancers may be looking too much into it for the sake of thier own Love of Tali. Now, there is a general consensus that Tali Love should be shared by all, and I completely agree. From a stricly Quarian standpoint, not a Human one, Tali has been written to be very Straite (spelling?). This 'missing' extra dialogue really gives no indication that she feels otherwise. And no, I do not think this has anything to do with that Fox News Bull; basically, Tali was never intended to be a same sex Love Interest. I do, however, believe that other same sex relationships 'were' intended to be put into the game, both for Male Shep and FemShep, but were removed either at the behest of EA or some other factor.

I recall reading that the german voice actor for MaleShep mentioned in an interview that he 'had' recorded Homosexual dialogue for Shepard, but it never found it's way into the final product. So, whereas I do believe same sex relationships were meant to be in the game, Tali was never intended to be one of them. It just...does not match with the character. I know I may be flammed for this, and I hope not.

I will not refute the fact that I may be mistaken, however...all the interviews with writers and all the info we Talimancers recieved over the years either from the Old ME Forums and the Tali-Love threads or other sources never once hinted that they intended for the character to go that way. Hell, Jack was mentioned as being an option for a time, but that never panned out. So...yeah. I just don't see it. And, honestly, I'm glad they didn't.

To me, making a character same sex oriented when they were never meant to be just smacks of pandering to a certain audience, and such things are beneath Bioware. Like I said, just my two cents. Nothing against you same sex oriented Talimancers, hell I'm even getting help from a Gay friend of mine for writing a Lesbian character into my Short Fiction story. This is just an observation.

Geth, with all due respect, you have that backward. We heard from the Man himself that Tali 'had' been intended to be a Love Interest for MaleShep, but the game writers felt like it would not work because Male players would not be interested in a Women who had 'Chicken Feet.' They were, of course, WRONG.

His point was that Bioware makes a lot of extra stuff and then doesn't add it. That doesn't mean they're gunna add it "later", as with Kaiden and Ashley's same sex romances.

According to the Internets, incest does equal wincest.
So. . .yeah.

Seriously though; Tali simply came off as way too interesting, lovable, and mysterious. How could you not fall in love with her?
She's such a likable character.
I'm just glad that BioWare was willing to listen to their fans and make reasonable changes.

No what they said was they thought it might be turn people off to her character not to her being an LI. In ME1 she was not designed to be an LI. They only added the LI in ME two cuase all the fanboys wanted it. And the fangirls rallied for Garrus. Although to a lesser extent than us.

That just seems bipolar of Bioware. Make up there minds and stop wasting time recording homosexual dialogue you'll never use! Then we might be able to have a real romance with Ashley/Kaiden/Liara.

Hmm, point taken.  Well, my suspicion still stands: I think someone on the dev team wanted the femshep-Tali romance to happen, and someone a level above shot it down.  Like I said, doesn't ruin my day because I'm a dude and I can still romance Tali, but it's too bad for the females that wanted to.
