Yeah I thought they only talked about "Chicken Feet" AFTER they found out about Tali Love. They explained why they never made her a LI in ME1 because "we didn't think ppl would like chicken feet, we were wrong".

Well they already put the dialogue into the game apparrently, so that tells me they wanted to do it, but pulled out for some reason. I think Bioware/EA is still afraid of crossing the boundary into "gay."  I mean, you can use the excuse for the Asari "Oh, they're not really women, they have no gender: they just look like women."  Therefore, they are not gay by romancing femshep, and femshep is not technically gay because an Asari could be considered a man or a woman.

Putting Tali, or any other character like Miranda or Kelly as a full romantic option for femshep would represent a true homosexual attraction, and I think they are to worried about the media catching that again and blowing it out of proportion.

Ever play Dragon Age: Origins?  They had no qualms about that or even prostitution offending people.  As far as I'm concerned, why not put all possible options in, its an rpg, let people play the role they want.

Maybe Mass Effect is more like 'their baby' and they want to present it to the largest audience possible without fear of getting ripped into by censors and news stations that don't know crap about crap?
Wish I could tell you.

His point was that Bioware makes a lot of extra stuff and then doesn't add it. That doesn't mean they're gunna add it "later", as with Kaiden and Ashley's same sex romances.

I must've missed the point with how ridiculously wrong-headed everything else sounded.

Also. No one knows why Bioware didn't add any of that. And no one knows if Bioware ever will. There's very little point in arguing cannon over a series like Mass Effect especially in the midpoint of the trilogy.

I personally think that they listen to their fans. Tali as a LI in ME2 is proof of that. So why they wouldn't listen to folks who want same-sex LIs is...beyond me. We've never been as vocal about it till just recently and I would be disappointed if the issue were ignored by the devs.

That just seems bipolar of Bioware. Make up there minds and stop wasting time recording homosexual dialogue you'll never use! Then we might be able to have a real romance with Ashley/Kaiden/Liara.

Yeah, they shouldn't even record the dialogue if they don't have plans to make the relationship available.  Let's face it: recording it and not putting it into the game doesn't save them from a publicity backlash; we all know that back from the days of the GTA hot coffee scandal.  Obviously someone was able to extract those files and put them on youtube, so they still became known.  Either allow same-sex romances and stand by the decision, or make no effort to put them in the game.

Tali is not bisexual. The fact that Kelly does not see Tali as being interested in femshep should be evidence enough. I've got nothing against the females who like Tali, but the developers made a decision. There are always mods for the people who want to alter the romances.

Also, several romance polls

Or maybe because sexuality in fantasy games is commonplace, and not so much in science fiction?

Elves are humans with long ears, dwarves are short human, but banging a blue monogendered species? That's just wrong!

However...I think our female Talimancers may be looking too much into it for the sake of thier own Love of Tali. Now, there is a general consensus that Tali Love should be shared by all, and I completely agree. However, from a Story standpoint, Tali being Bi-Sexual just does 'not' mesh with everything we have been told or learned through various subsequent means about her. Basically, there is nothing to indicate that Tali would want to 'be' with a women.

Oh please. I gotta love this. I've heard it so much. Tali just doesn't seem bisexual. How ridiculously vague is that?
"Are we allowing dreams into evidence now?"
And I love this part too.

Basically, there is nothing to indicate that Tali would want to 'be' with a women.

It's nuts! What the hell is that supposed to mean? It's all soooo subjective man. There is nothing there to indicate that she would not want to be with another woman. It's simple.

Also. Anyone who watches the youtube link with the missing dialogue and says there is no romance in it is not listening very carefully (if at all).

I love hearing things like "cannon" too. That is so rich. Cannon? In Mass Effect? The series isn't even complete people! Anything can happen. And Bioware would never make anything feel tacked on. They are legends in videogame story-telling!

Cut, I think you're letting yourself be driven to fury over certain things that are not there. I 'did' mention that I could be wrong (you mentioned 'My' not paying attention to the dialogue) However, my viewpoint comes from all the Information from the Devs, Writers, etc concerning Tali. No where, in any of those source (check all the Wiki links) was there anything to indicate that Tali was intended to be a LI for females.

You recall the gay friend who was helping me with my Short Story? Her name's Gina, and I've known her since I was 14. She chimed in on this issue for me when this came up awhile back. She's played the game, and we've talked about Tali 'seeming' same Sex Oriented, and it was from her that I first heard, "I just don't see it." Based on the conversations we've had on the topic, and the information from the interviews, etc, I came to the conclusion that Tali was not meant to ever be Gay. Am I wrong? Possibly. Would I be upset over that? Only if it seemed Forced, which at this point it would.

I'm sorry Tali was not Gay. Hell, I think it's Horse-Crap they are NO Gay characters in ME2. I feel it would be short sighted if they did not at least give the Females players some same sex relationships in ME3. I just don't see Tali among them.

*Edit* Given how fact this topic is flying, this comment might be a litter behind the curb.

I know, thread is flooded and individual posts are just tiny sticks. Again I say it makes Bioware seem bipolar or fickle or something where they can't make up their minds, so IMO if they're making extra M/M F/F content and not adding it then they're wasting precious time that could be spent pumping out other sweet DLC.

Viva la Talimance!

That's what they told the news in the media, that it was a hacked or modded version of the game.. till people found a way to unlock it on xbox without hacking.... The devs put hot coffee in GTA on purpose ;)

Except Tali didn't really talk about herself in ME1, not NEARLY as much as ME2. It was the collaboration of VA and random bits of dialogue and boom Tali Love started. I like to think Bioware didn't plan too much on Tali in ME1 but their formula worked...as if they were drilling for water and found oil B) yes I succeed at a metaphor.

I'm far from furious, but perhaps a bit overly-passionate. I said you were wrong-headed but only in your presumptions. It's extremely subjective to say a character in a game is straight. I mean. Jacob, for example. He is a love interest for female Shepard but there is really nothing there to suggest he isn't bisexual. Gay people don't have "Gay" written on their forehead. You simply wouldn't be able to tell.

I also have to disagree with you. Tali being open to romance for female Shepard in part 3 would not only not feel forced, it would feel logical, given how she seemed open to the possibility of linking suit environments in ME2. As I said before, Bioware seems incapable of making anything feel forced, not with the story-telling prowess they have displayed thus far.

No, guys. Sorry. There was an interview with Casey Hudson not long ago, and in that interview he said, "When we designed Tali for Mass Effect 1, she had been intended to be a Love interest. After seeing the final concept work, the Writers just didn't see people being attacted to her and her Chicken Feet." This was an audio interview done maybe a month or two ago. Also, he's said the same thing in other interviews. Also, before you try to toss it back into my face, I'll try and find the link.
