She said that linking suits was the most intimate thing one quarian could do with another, while that in itself is open to interpretation, I can not think of one intimate thing I'd do with a platonic friend.

You need to put this into perspective. Simply being in the prescense of another suit environment would be intimate for a quarian, because they are obviously in their suits all the time. The fact that it is the most intimate does not mean that it has to be intimate of a sexual nature, unless you believe that her aunt was getting it on with her mother.

That was a situation in which a baby was being born though, which is an inherently very-unsterile procedure.  You can't do that in a suit, so you'd have to have a clean room, in which case it would be safe for the sister or auntie, whatever you will, to take her suit off as well and engage in the experience.  I'm pretty sure what Tali was referring to was S-E-X

I cant belive tali has sooooooooooooooo many fans, i mean dont get me wrong tali's a great character and get cudoes like Garrus does for returning from the first game, and i'm not saying that tali is a bad character, quite the opposite in fact, but she deffantiy isnt my Fav. i just didnt expect her to have such a huge fan base, i always expeced it to be like Garrus Wrex and Ash but i just though i'd say i was amazed at how many fans tali has, but good work on the thread i mean 1472 pages i mean over 1000 pages f*ck me, over 1400 f*ck me sideways, but i guess you guys have kinda secured tali's place in ME3 aint ya.

Also suspect if that Kelly does not say that Tali is interested in femshep. If she really was, why does Kelly not say so? Mass Effect is completely open to lesbian relationships, and given the fact that Kelly is both bisexual, open-minded, and the fact that Liara comes onto the female shepard and other examples, it stands to reason that Kelly would say something if it were indeed true.

I'm fairly sure Aunt is more a title and less a blood relation.

And yes it was implied pretty heavility with Shala Ran that suit link is about trust and comfort. Which is what intimacy is.

Sex just also tends to happen when the two are also attracted, typically physically, to one another.

Casey Hudson was on the Giant Bombcast on 1/19/2010

He says that they werent expecting people to react like that becuase of the mask and chicken feet, but also clearly says they were designed to be LI's originally.

Just goes to show you: you make a character interesting and deep enough and the people are willing to look past the things that might labeled as 'weird' or 'different'.

Except Tali didn't really talk about herself in ME1, not NEARLY as much as ME2. It was the collaboration of VA and random bits of dialogue and boom Tali Love started. I like to think Bioware didn't plan too much on Tali in ME1 but their formula worked...as if they were drilling for water and found oil B) yes I succeed at a metaphor.

Your metaphor has caused you to win Internets.

Anyway, I still think that we learn enough about Tali (as well as her race) to make her an interesting character, of coruse, her voice-actress does a great deal or bringing the character to life, too.
Personaly, I think BioWare ended up accidently creating one of teh best romances in videogaming because of this. Not only does it span the bridge of 2 games, but depending on how you play, Shepard and Tali can start off as friends, but then Tali starts to get a crush on you. She dosen't say anything because she knows that you would never love her back. However, after losing you, only to find that you're alive again two years later, she dares to take a risk with you. It's only a little flirting that could easily be glossed over or missed, but it's the best she dares to do. It's only when you openly ask if she's interested that she dares to talk about her feelings.

I just find the whole thing so darm romantic to look back on as a whole, even if it was by accident. Somehow it just seems to mean more than any of the other LI options.

I know, I keep seeing people saying on other forums that the ME 1 LIs were better and I'm thinking "Dude, you haven't done Tali's romance, have you?"  Because the biggest difference between hers and the others is that (because of what you mentioned about) it's believable.  The more real it is, the more as you, the player, understand and connect with it.

fem shep: "you have nothing to be embarassed about tali...i feel the same way about you"
tali: "i know..well...not that i know but i .....wow it's really hot in here."

Is that really in the final game without having to dig files - meaning, can be experienced the 360 version. I doubt it is. Having audio files that are unused in game proves nothing.

It proves she was planned as a Li for fem shep. A lot of folks are saying that was never even the case.

yes this is in the 360 version without having to dig for files but only for the male shep character. If you should play as a female she will cut off after saying she is unwilling to link suits with any quarians and change to a more friendly tone both shortening the conversation to a stop and maintaining a friend basis.

You don't know she was referring to sex or romance. I can trust my friend with my life, but that doesn't mean I am going to be sexual with them. Also, if Tali was interested in femshepard, why does Kelly not say so?

Well to be honest we fell in love with the Quarians...that's pretty much what we talked about in ME1....Quarians and Geth...Quarian government, too. But the way she said it it was better ;) this you know.

So what exactly is this linkage of the suitage? You get in a Quarian suit and link forearms or breath in her face?

It's adapting to the air in another Quarian's suit... I think :?

And how does this "adapting" process occur? Do you connect tubes at the wrist or summin?

it would feel logical, given how she seemed open to the possibility of linking suit environments in ME2.

I don't believe this is so. First of all, linking suits is not necessarily sexual or intimate. In fact, that's what Tali says if you're male shepard, she doesn't want linking suits to be misconstrued as something that has to be sexual. If it were always sexual or romantic, then Shael'Raen (Tali's "aunt") had a relationship with Tali's mother which would be...awkward (and obviously indicative that linking suits is not inherently romantic) There's a far divide between trust and romance.

Actually, I think she implied that the linking of the suits was associated with intimacy, because they only time they risk taking off their suits is to get down.  Think about it: if you could die anytime you took off your suit, you wouldn't do it just so you could chill with your bro in the hot tub

So what exactly is this linkage of the suitage? You get in a Quarian suit and link forearms or breath in her face?

That's the way I read it as being, too.

I imagine at first it would be linking suits to get used to it and over the sickness, and then a clean room from there... Seems logical to slowly acclimate then just in feet first.

I know what you mean, it's not definitive that connecting suits means you have to get it on.  But still, you wouldn't say to your heterosexual platonic friend: "we're good buddies now, let's connect suits just to show how much we trust each other," because that would be a great and unecessary risk.  Connect suits to me implies that you want to touch another person skin to skin: one good reason for that would be having a baby.  The other would be making love to someone.

I don't think you understand. Kelly doesn't know the metagame of Mass Effect. There are other examples within the game where characters can express interest and have it come to nothing. Samara, Shiala, you name it.

Geth, ok, I'm confused. In your initial statement, you said the devs said they never intended to make Tali a LI in ME1, where as I pointed out the Bombcast interview were Casey says they 'did' intend for her to be a LI in ME1, they just pulled out when the writers saw her Chicken Feet and thought we players would not be attracted to her. So...which did 'you' mean to say?

Oh, I do the same.
I use Unity EVERY time she goes down. For anyone else, I'll only do it if I need them.
If she runs out into the open, I'll do the same to draw fire, or use my biotics to clear a path.

Willingness and actually doing it are two different things.
