Well in the case of anaphylactic shock, it might actually be worse for her to have one! lol
Why do you have to ruin my hopes and dreams?
Shep should just commission Mordin to "make" Tali an immune system. I mean, if they can make molecular-level cybernetic implants for Shep, they can give Tali nanobots that do the job of an immune system and kill invading cells. Hell, it'll be BETTER than an immune system!
I'm actually kinda surprised Quarians don't have nanobots that do that.. Maybe technology limitations, but for all the gossip of cybernetic implants, you'd figure they'd have something for their immune system. <_<
You guys went through that whole discussion and didnt realize this wouldnt work cuase its the immune responce form Tali that is the issue not the actual forign object cuassing sickness.
Yes, the whole time we were talking about WHY the foreign object would be causing sickness, on a molecular and physiological level
Biological sickness exceedingly unlikely. Toxic effect would be exception more than rule. Even then would have varying severity and effect. Also case of toxin that builds up in system also very rare. Take alcohol for example. Posionous. But body can get rid of it over time. Unless you drown yourself in it. Constantly. More likely response is the immuno overreaction that Tali describes.
What I still don't understand, and since there seems to be expertise here someone might explain it to me, is this:
Doesn't it say in the Codex that Quarians started with weak immune system, because of the conditions of their homeworld that made their bodies more prone to accept germs, because they were generally beneficial to them. Wouldn't that mean that they would be less prone to attack foreign germs (= trigger an allergic reaction) or did I just read it wrong?

Foreign germs of places other than their homeplanet are rarely beneficial... And since their immune system is low from their evolution path, the body reacts to any foreign matter it detects, in attempts to purge it from the system before it can do damage.

An allergic reation is not cuased from an attack by the germ, It is cuased by the immune system overcompensating for the presence said germ. germ may have no effect at all but body sees it as a threat and tries to kill it. Body temp rises to create hostile invironment for germ (fever). produces mucas to trap it (like runny nose) and/or cough/sneeze to expel it. Time isolated on flotilla means the body has lost most of its natural bacterium so that it over reacts to nearly every new item cuase it has no bases of comparison to know wether its dangerous or not.

They call it a weak immune system but then say the sickness part of it is from an allergic reaction.
And an allergic reaction is essentially when your immune response is too strong for the situation. And then you have a paradox. Silly bioware /sigh

Can't the reaction be too weak to fight a serious infection yet still strong enough to mess you up?

Every human has a bunch of bacteria/germs/whatnot that just sit in thier body and mooch off them but dont really do anything to the person. However they do provide some benefit. They block out other things, kinda like how trees block out the sun so other plants cant grow beneath them in a forest. And provide a basis for your immune system to work from. But quarians lost most of thier natural germs from thier home world so thier immune system essentially has to start from scratch in determining what to ignore and what to fight when ever they take off thier suits.

If the infection was like the black plague yeah possibly.

Can't qoute, to poster who wants a lesbian roomie, unless you are one yourself, no you don't. I am not gay but for a while shared lodgings with one. He (she if he went through with operation) and I became good friends but as with any friendship where one person might develop feelings more then the other might want to return, things did not turn out too well. Had he taken the operation, I don't know.
Anyways, I do hope that Bioware do reconsider their stance on sexuality and include same sex romance for those who wants it. Me, I am happy with a straight Tali, but I can understand those who wants something more towards their own sexual orientation.
