I've been smoking cyanide since I was a kid, building up an immunity... Now it's just a damned good cigarette, thanks

I was never really a fan of ash and i thought on me1 one it would be easy to let her die..

I know what you mean, I wasn't a fan of her somewhat xenophobic attitude either.  But the thing is, it isn't that she hates aliens, it is really more just that she, as she says, "sees the Alliance's goals as her own".   She is a product of her upbringing and family.  She was raised in an Alliance military family, and she was practically born a marine; it would be unrealistic to expect that she wouldn't place a high value on the Alliance and in humans in general, just as you usually expect a U.S. Marine to be more concerned about the fate of the U.S. than the fate of other countries.  To top it off, she had a grandfather whose tragic fate was the result of a very violent conflict with the Turians.

Despite all that, though, if you romance her you can get her to start to see the other side.  She even admits that what happened to her Grandfather was the Alliance's fault, and not the Council's or even the Turians.  She even has nice things to say to Tali if you get them in an elevator together.

All that said, Ash is probably the romance I am least attracted to, but she isn't a bad person.  The whole "space ****" thing is a bit overblown.
