Oh I agree 100%; a war against the Geth would be a disaster and quite frankly they don't stand a chance. They even risk their own extinction, since the vast majority of the Quarian population lives on the ships that will be used in the war. Such a thing would be especially tragic because the Geth don't even want to harm them, and in fact are even taking care of their home for them.cannedcream wrote...

Well, that's the thing... what the Quarians intend to do about their homeworld is really up in the air, and this could be a major influence for it. My impression was that exposing the information would reveal exactly how dangerous it is to even look for a way to fight the Geth, as well as turn the general consensus against the people championing the war.cannedcream wrote...

I just read something kind of distressing in another Tali-related thread...
Someone mentioned that if you betray Tali and present the evidence of her father's work (something I've never done), that Admiral Xen gets very angry and Han'Gerrel remarks that the information has sabotaged the war effort. I wonder what the consequences of staying loyal to Tali will be?
But. . .but I don't wanna hurt Tali. . .
I doubt that one act would really sabotage the war effort. If the quarians really mean to take back their homeworld, then they'll do it; tech or not.
But there's got to be a way to do so without exposing the work of Tali's father.
Legion himself said that some kind of peace could be made between the Geth and the 'Creators'. I guess that many quarians wouldn't be happy about such a thing, but would it really be worse then war?
As much as I don't want to admit it, I think if the quarians went to war with the Geth, then they would lose, espechally if don't want to cause any major damage to their planet.
The thing is, though, that it is clear that the Quarians do not at all understand what the Geth have become. Many of them harbor 300 years worth of grudge because they are forced to wander, and wear suits, and be looked down upon.
There are a lot of ways this could go, and for a lot of different reasons.
First, you have to factor in Tali, Legion, and Shepard. Legion himself is a complete revelation into the nature of the Geth (frankly, he is one of the most amazing characters I've seen in any game), and gives Shepard the ability to authoritatively talk to the Quarian people about what the Geth are like.
Then there is Tali's data that you helped her collect on her Pilgrimmage. She said that it could take years to decrypt, but it contains information about the evolution of the Geth. Although it was collected from the Heretics, it would very likely have data about the other Geth and about the schism between them (especially given that the Heretics were "spying" on the other Geth). Notice how, when you collect the data in ME1, the message mentions a recording of a Quarian singing being broadcast in from Geth space? I think that even the Heretics did not have a grudge against the Quarians. But will the Quarians be able to use and understand the data before the war comes up?
Of course the attitude of the Quarians themselves is a factor, too. Many of them are angry at the Geth, but then some of them are not. Will they be able to put away their long-held anger in order to get their home planet back intact? Not presenting Rael's research may have an influence on that, but then again... Tali offers a surprising olive branch to Legion after you resolve their fight, and she has more reason to hate the Geth than most. This may be a foreshadowing of possibilities, but it is very hard to say how this situation will be resolved, and which decisions have the most influence.
