That leaves the whole virus plan, or exterminating the geth from orbit, or some other one sided plan where the geth don't have a chance to fight back.  Those just don't seem like likely options to me.

Why not, exactly? Between Rael's research and Admiral Xen's email building it up, the virus plan actually seems the most likely option to me - more likely to be the "Renegade" path than actually seeing a war break out, IMO.

I guess a virus isn't completely out of the question.  I can't really think of any specifics regarding the research done in ME2, but the overarching theme that I got from all of it was that it wasn't that close to being a viable solution.  With the geth having all of those anti hacking mechanisms and such.

Then again, you do have the option to brainwash the heretic geth in ME2, I'm not sure the difference between making the geth no longer worship the reapers and making them quarian slaves is though.  And unless I'm missing something, that falls into the Bioware will either say we can or can't camp.

I really don't expect that to be an option in ME3 though.  That would be a pretty kickass virus.  I'm still expecting peace.

If you hand over the evidence at Tali's trial then talk to her when you're back on the Normandy, you hear that the evidence is breaking the fleet apart, causing some to break away in favor of war while others want to send efforts of peace for the geth. Needless to say, it drives the Quarians apart.

Thus, ultimately, you understand why her father had to be super secret. Even Tali is slightly torn by the revelation and she can hold herself together pretty well all things considered.

The problem here is the same with every war: the enemy has been demonized. It's likely that the quarians have been fed propaganda against the Geth all of their lives. Even those who were not born during the Morning War, (or may have never even SEEN a geth) are likly to hate them because no one has ever seen the other side of things.

That was part of my point :)
I was pointing out that they've been harboring a grudge for 300+ years.  The question is whether they can let it go for long enough to look for and understand the truth of the situation.

The Geth were their creations, their children, and then they started to question themselves they were turned on. The Geth only fought for their right to survive, yet they still understand why they were being destoryed by their creators. Since then they have evolved greatly and are perfectly willing to extend an olive branch.
They are even keeping their creator's homeworld, a world they have NO use for, in working order. Almost as if they're just waiting for their creators to come back home again.

Yes, I personally agree with that assessment, but that isn't really what I meant to ask.
The question isn't about the truth of the situation between the Geth and the Quarians, but actually more about the Quarians attitude.  Will the Quarians discover the nature of the Geth before they decide to attack?  If they do, will they be able to stop hating the Geth for long enough to put down their guns and go back home?

Legion is the only Geth able to speak a language of the quarians, and as he said it was an inofficant way to talk, so if they Geth knew this, then why did they program one of their own to do so? Most likely so that they could somehow find a way to speak with their creators and show that there does not have to be any spilled blood.

Actually, Legion himself says that he is a unique platform created to make contact with Shepard, not the Quarians.  That said, Legion could be instrumental in promoting understanding of the nature of the Geth.

I'm quite content with choosing the intimidate option. My first playthrough I didn't have enough renegade for it. I chose the paragon option.:P (The normal one, not the charm... haven't gotten the urge to try a paragon run yet.)
On that note, I really am leaving now. -_-

I'm gunna start a FemShep and I'm gunna kill Wrex, Rachni, and screw over everyone and see what happens

On topic, I love Tali's first conversation after recruiting her, when you hit "investigate" Shepard says "Tell me about the Admiralty Board" then Tali goes off talking about Quarians...reminds me of all our great Quarian discussions in ME1

Random question related to the subject. I thought all geth were capable of speaking, they just didn't because its so inefficient when you can communicate at light speed? Legion has the one recording of a geth asking the quarian whether or not it had a soul or something 300 years ago. I don't see why they would remove the ability to communicate with the quarians over time. It would make sense for them to keep communication options open. While they have no intention of messing with organics, surely they have the foresight to know they won't be left alone for eternity.
