Yeah, I think people are way too hard on poor Liara.

She went through a lot, and she did it for you.  Obviously it had a detrimental effect on her.  The reason she is "mean" is because of what she had to go through to bring you back to life.  You would still be dead... no, worse.. you'd be part of the Reaper if it weren't for her.  There is one little conversation option that is easy to miss where she explains, and when she does you can see that deep inside she is still just a little girl who cares about you and wants you to like her.  After everything she did for you, it seems heartless to me to dismiss her just because you don't like her attitude; she is suffering more for it than you are, I can pretty much guarantee.

I didn't cheat on Liara, and I won't -- she is still my "canon" romance since she was my first ME1 and ME2 playthrough, and she will likely be my first ME3 romance as well.  I love Tali and she will get her time, for certain, but Liara deserves a true friend to stand by her, and it distresses me how many people are looking for reasons to abandon her.

In those pics, she's not put on a few pounds. She's monstrously obese to the point of absurdity.
In all ME universe, we have yet to see a single overweight person. It is therefore sensible to assume that all races either found a way to eliminate/treat this disorder (and yes, it is classified as a medical disorder) or have no natural affinity to develop it.
Either way, as things are now, it is impossible for Tali to "put on weight."

Therefore, pictures of fat Tali = caricature, and rather bad at that.
I for one have no desire to see bad caricature every time I open a Tali-loving thread. It's disrespectful. As it would be if someone posted a picture with Tali's body and a horse's head, for instance.

Does it make us fickle to reject scorning of our favorite character???

and weight is not primarily based on intake...its on activity level.

I wouldn't go quite that far.  It's a rough galaxy out there, and people change and move apart.  It's part of the pathos of the story in my opinion.  If she needs a friend, she's got one, but that's it.
