I understand that, while the Illusive Man claims to act in the best interests of humanity, he is acting in the best interests of Cerberus. In his mind, Cerberus IS humanity.

For the record, at this point in the ME universe, the best interest of humanity is stopping the reapers.  This also happens to be in the best interest of every other species in the galaxy.  I don't really get why people can't be pragmatic about TIM.  As long as he's helping you against the reapers he can be one of your best allies.  His (bad) intentions after that are a lesser concern than the reapers.

If you stop the reapers by simply using their own technology of melting innocents into reaper babies and slaughtering whoever stands in your way, you are no better than them.

I assume your refering to the collector base.  What makes you think the only technology there is reaper baby making tech?  There could be tons of useful stuff their like the stealth system the collectors use to snipe you in the opening, an improved weapon system, I believe the thanix cannon tech came from Sovereign, could be wrong.  Mass relay manipulation stuff?

They make it a point in the game, the collectors never expected anyone to reach the base.  It's entirely possible that there is something that could be used successfuly against the reapers there.

By playing the whole cerberus is evil, I'll never work with them card, your just making things harder on yourself.  If you want to play the 100% good guy than thats fine, but your risking the mission by doing so.

We alread know that there is a level of Tech that can stop the Reapers. Its an organic ship that the batarians have. Now lets get back to the Tali lovin'

Actually I'm kinda thinking in ME3 as a paragon who told TIM to shove it you'll be doing a bunch of recruiting of allys like the quarians and the council and the geth and whatnot.

But If you sided with TIM you'll be looking into tech, like the reaper base. the leviathan ship that you mentioned the batarians have. and the BIG FU**ING GUN that took out the reaper in ME2. TIM says they located it but never gives any more info on it.

You are the kind of person that would look at a maurading enemy army and go "hey everybody let's give em a chance maybe they'll play nice this time"

Read the book ascention and retribution (when it comes out) you will see cerberus is not good guys in any form of the word... and by dominate species TiM means hes going to basicly enslave the others...

I would still point out that TIM is in a similar situation to Liara.  The book and ME1 TIM is not the same as ME2 TIM in the same way that ME1 Liara is different from ME2 Liara.  If you want to hate TIM from his past actions, that's your perogative, but he is a different character now.  I highly doubt we see any terrorist acts from Cerberus for the rest of the Mass Effect storyline.  Bioware has made it clear that they want Cerberus to be good guys (well, as good as human supremacists can be...)

Actually he did, He brought Germany out of a Devistating Depression, Spurred many advances in science, espessially in flight and rocketry, among other things. Did the ends justify the means? He believed he was doing the right thing. As TIM himself said, history will determine who was right by who wins.
