For the record, TIM never expected you to conform completely. He even says as much early in the game. The only thing he expects of you is that you will do everything in your power to stop the reapers.
Since TIM is the ultimate pragmatist, he sees how he can profit from the collector base. When you make the decision to destroy it out of spite, risking all of the galaxy, TIM understandably reacts negatively. Thinking emotionally instead of logically is dangerous with that much on the line. Is risking the entire galaxy to get back at TIM really a good idea?
Id buy that if when you talk to TIM he doesnt rage about how he could have used it to conquer the galaxy.
I make it pretty clear whenever I defend TIM, (which is a lot since everyone hates him...) that I'm perfectly aware that you would have to fight him later. The key thing is that he will help you against the reapers more than anyone else in the galaxy until their gone. I don't see why so many people pass that up.
I feel like people are constantly metagaming this aspect, and have the whole "Bioware will make it possible to defeat the reapers no matter how I act, so I don't have to be pragmatic" view. Is Cerberus really 1/1000th as big of a threat as the reapers? TIM's actions after the reapers are gone aren't a huge concern.
I'd point out that it was using reaper tech that got the entire galaxy in this mess in the first place. Making the same mistake twice seems like idiocy. Not to mention if you wanna talk about real life. Its much better to have allies than a single ace up your sleeve.

Luckily?! They could've wiped the quarians out! I suppose they didn't, so they may have not been trying to, but still, the quarians shouldn't have freaked the frak out.
The quarians tried to genocide a race of their own creation with the intention (I assume) of trying to avoid any significant disruption to their society.
The geth reduced a starfaring race that presumably numbered in the billions to 17 million (which probably counts as genocide). And destroyed their religion.
They both need to back the F up and apologize. Then they need to get on with their lives and rejoin (or join in the case of the geth) the larger galactic civilization.

We must build or own tech in order to defeat them using there own tech will not work.
I addressed this point a little earlier. The tech that the reapers meant for civilization to build around was left in open, easy to find spots. The Citadel and mass relays were put there for people to find them. The collector base was in an unreachable spot, and it is stated in game that the collectors never expected anyone to reach it. There is no reason that there wouldn't be possible tech there that could be used against the reapers. Similar to the thanix cannon being a version of Sovereigns weapon.
It isn't reapers are immune to reaper tech, its they understand the relays better than us, and our reliance on them is their biggest advantage.

No one in the Mass effect universe is perfect, the quarians created something that could've rebelled so so save their own species they tried to remove them, unfortunately losing.
Synthetics are not organic life, they don't have the rights or feelings the way we do, I for one an fully behind the Quarians in their decision to remove the geth during the morning war.
You would see that they are destroyed because they are synthetic?
Yep, the Quarians took steps to protect their people, the geth were a mistake and needed to be removed, it obviously didn't work but I stand behind their decision
Wow thats like saying black babies are a mistake an need to be removed.
No actually its not, Geth are just machines, not people
So your saying that the geth are sub human? less than people?
Thats exactly how people rationalized slavery. Or how the Taliban justify there terrorism against western cultures.
The geth are machines, I don't know how many times I have to say
machines aren't people, they are tools
Yeah, and we're tools for the Reapers! All sentient and sapient life are to the Reapers as the geth were to the quarians, and apparently wrong. Are you saying what the Reapers are doing is right?

They have no need for the Creators anymore. Quarians would never fully want peace anyways.
If the Geth wanted genocide they could have easily done it.
They stopped once the Quarians fled.
