If you built a machine that you wanted to dig dirt and sudenly it started to talk about souls...would you not take action. most everyone with half a brain would attemt to destory it hoping to remedy there mistake. Quarian people are dying, entire species is dying. No one with morals could let this happen, geth are not a species and are incappable of understanding this. action must be taken to save quarians while it still exists.

Understand this: the geth are a species now. They are capable of independent decision making. their first greeting from an organic race? Getting shot at. Not a good first impression. We already know the geth are open to peace if the quarians are. You can't give them that chance?

And you say no one with morals could let the quarians die? The geth can help. An alliance is going to make the two species far stronger than if they were at each others thorats, which WOULD be the death of the quarian people.

I would most certainly take action, but I don't think murder is the first thing that would come to mind though

Also saying the geth not taking action to save the quarians is unethical but attempted genocide is is so far beyond hypocracy.  Although I would agree the geth are not a species, they are more akin to a singe dissociative individual.

That's an interesting statement.
I think a good argument could be made that having emotions makes them more trustworthy.  Emotions motivate people to do a lot terrible things, fear maybe more often than any of them.  The Geth have no such emotion.  What exactly is it about having emotions that you think makes someone more trustworthy?

Emotions irrelevant to "trust."

May be betrayed for emotional reasons or logical ones. Matter which? Not to betrayed.

As near as I can tell, the word "soul" doesn't describe anything that isn't dependent on our physical makeup.

I was talking about the Quarians attacking. I'm on your side.

I was pointing out that to say inaction to save a quarian species is (even if it cost them thier own) unethical
But an active attempt to destroy a species in an act of attempted genocide (on the part of the quarians) is justified is ethically contradictory. IE Beyond Hypocrasy
