Are they sentient? Yes. That basically means they have the capacity for intelligence. Are they sapient? Yes. That basically means they have the capacity for wisdom. Legion had some of the most reasonable and wise lines in the ENTIRE gorram game. Like it or not, the geth ARE a species.

i have been called worse, however i believe that i would hate geth no matter what the Quarians felt, cannot say for sure though for obvious reasons. but back to the point, the geth are not "alive" therefore killing them isent even killing them its just shutting them down.

If the geth were made out of meat instead of metal, would this still apply?

It's pure logic for the Geth to leave. 

1. They don't use the planet at all.
2. It would create permanent (at least for the foreseeable future) peace between them and Quarians.
3. The Geth letting the Quarians back to their world would be big news for the entire galaxy, and show the entire galaxy that the Geth aren't the boogey men most people consider them to be.

There's virtually no downside to them leaving, as long as it can all be done peacefully. It's not like the Geth would place any sentimental value on the area.

The Quarians wouldnt want them to just leave the planet though, theyd want them to leave the perseus veil entirely.

I don't think so. With only 17 million people, the Quarians aren't going to need any space or resources beyond what their planet has for a LONG time.

And even if they did want them to leave the Perseus veil, it doesn't really matter. Mass Relays makes distances irrelevent. All the Geth need is a chunk of space with the resources they need for their Dyson Sphere, and that's that. Hell, the Geth even set up stations in chunks of space between stars, were no organic life would ever be interested in.

So entire genocide of Quarians is better then wiping out all "Units" of Geth. Geth can be built, you can't build a soul. Personal choice for me would be to.

Ask geth to leave Quarain home-geth say yes, ok everything is fine let them go about there buisness.

-geth say no, i say destory all geth units and restrict all production of AI, combat machines that are that intelligent on there own cannot be left to simply grow and grow on there own. to risky. I would enjoy seeing those emotionless geth impalled on dragons teeth. i would enjoy it Immenesly.

The geth arent attacking the Quarains, they are not commiting or even attempting genocide the way the quarains did. The only thing that has kept the quarains from saving themselves is thier own hate. The geth would help except to do so would put them in a position to be betrayed something that the quarians have done 100% of the time they've had the chance to. Would you give the taliban the codes to our nuclear arsenal if you thought it might save thier lives?

Also what defines a soul? How do you measure it? How do you detect it? How can you say wether one is present or not? Until you can answer these questions that arguement really has no merit.

Also allowing the geth to grow on thier own is no different from allowing any sentient species to grow on thier own.

So, shutting down a sentient, thinking machine that has its own thoughts, beliefs, etc is ok because it's a machine?  I guess if a machine looked at you and thought the same of you just because you're organic, that would ok, too?

That is your evaluation, but I disagree.  Legion spells out why this is not the case: organic creatures are already biased against machine intelligences, and they are destroyed when encountered 100% of the time.  The Geth's approach has been to withdraw and study.  They want to know what the organics reaction will be before they contact them, and they cannot know that until they understand organics.  This is an understanding that they have not achieved yet, but that they are working towards.  This seems like a very reasonable approach to me.
