I really feel like this deserves to be expounded upon.

I dunno. I heard something fall from the counter and land right next to me, my head turned involuntarily to look at absolutely nothing. Nothing fell. But the sound was really loud.

It was probably inside a cupboard.  When you go for some tea or a bowl of cereal or a delicious mimosa tomorrow morning, all types of sh*t will rain down upon you.  It's happened to me.
