Developers mentioned. The Universe knows what Quarians look like. Archival footage. Old Asari/Krogan. Bioware prefers mystery.
That was done for immersion. Master Chief is the player, never get to see his face because it would have broken the feeling that the player is the hero. Master Cheif has so little dialogue and such so the player can project on him as they see fit.Alphyn wrote...

Place-holder, damnit. You are not supposed to take what's underneath for consideration. Simply there for convenience. It's also worth note that all quarians in-game have the same face underneath. Tali simply has more detailed eyes.sergio71785 wrote...

I'm not a fan of going against the majority to please the minority. Every poll I've seen, the wanting to see her face side has won in a landslide. The only way people will be disappointed by the face will be if they get a specific fan art in their head, and fall in love with it. In that scenario, a completely different direction could leave you disappointed. I assume most people will be like me, and just hope that she's beautiful with an open mind towards the specifics.
Plus the whole reason we all love Tali is in her personality. A face that goes against our preconceptions won't make us like her any less. I just want to know to put a face to the rest of the complete package. What it looks like isn't nearly as important as the actual knowledge.

Tali on the other hand is not. She is a seperate character, the player does get a good range of interactions and she has fully developed herself as a character. That's why she really is worthy of a reveal. Though if they never show her face at all, it wouldn't be the first time this has happened.
