That brings up an interesting concept. in ME1 you could influence both Garrus and (provided you played a femshep) Kaiden. What would it be like for a renegade shepard to influence Tali to a more violent, aggressive person? Not jack psychotic or Grunt "kill anything that moves", just showing off a darker side to her personality.Phil725 wrote...
They control her appearance, personality and actions. We have no effect on Tali aside from what our character does to her.
I'd rather like to see that.
You mean like what they did to Liara and totally ruined her? I'll pass.
Quick. Someone catch me up on what I missed since I went to sleep back around page 1741
To be fair, the developers completely failing to come up with a good reason to keep Liara out of the ME2 team, and subsequently wrecking her character with an unrealistic and unexplainable character change isn't the same as giving Shepard the option to influence Tali's views slightly.

I like the direction they took with Liara because I didn't. It was an imperfection, a character becoming darker t make the story more believable, like Garrus channelling Batman.
I think you're the first person I've seen since the game came out that actually liked ME2 Liara

It's wierd. I both do, and don't. Suffice to say, it's a character shift that justifies my ME2 romance choice and puts the 2 year time gap into greater context with such a twist. Just... don't do it again, Bioware

As am I. I'm just saying it would be an interesting turn of events if your shepard was able to turn to the proverbial dark side.Azint wrote...

I'd rather like to see that.
Here's an example; let's say she was exiled in your playthrough,
the quarian people turned on her after everything she did for them. Now if it were me, I'd be BEYOND pissed off about it. So Shepard, though conversations with her, could get her to admit that she needs to start looking out for herself more and not think so much about what other people need.
This translates into a more aggressive posture when dealing with prejudice against her people and in the romance subplot we could have a more indulgent tali who is all for the romance regardless of the risks and dangers presented.
I'm not saying I don't like Tali as is, and I never would say that, I'm just saying that this could be an entertaining twist on the character.

The only problem I forsee is Bioware forcing her back onto the team since she's alive in everyone's game. Nothing about her in ME2 from her complete character shift to her horribly out of place priorities make me trust her or even want her around in the third game. If we get Liara and no Tali, I may have to seriously rage.

To be fair, I still like Liara, since they do sort of explain her personality if you pick the right dialogue choices.
Also, this dude's analysis makes you look at the whole Liara thing a totally different way:
