Wo, thats the most ihave ever seen from her mask and I like it!   And I do see eyebrows! And if there are Eye-brows, than that means hair! (I think...)

I always thought Tali looked somewhat like a draenei female through her mask.

I thought you'd be disappoined, seeing as though Tali isn't large in this one. ;)

Less fun for motorboating Image IPB
That said, Tali is awesome in all forms Image IPB

Have you read the Mass Effect comics yet? (I haven't) Or for anyone else who has, since Liara is the main character, is there anything that happens in the comics to justify her sudden change of personality?

Think it's still in the early stages so have to wait a bit yet methinks. Think the 3rd volume's still in development.

'Cause then it would be really interesting to see if they provided an explanation for her change.  I found it most unbelievable that she could change that much in two years, especially considering her lifespan.

For humans to do a personality 180º in only two years requires something really major, like being in a war or losing our entire family.  We humans only live 80 years on average (I guess 100 or so in ME), but Asari live over 1,000 years: for easy math we'll just say they live 10 times longer.  So for Liara to change in two years is like a human changing in two and a half months.  Wouldn't make much sense unless something REALLY CRAZY happened; not just her partner getting captured by the Shadow Broker.  Practically Tali's entire team died twice: once on Freedom's Progress and again on Haestrom, and she held together ok.

Doesn't it mention in ascension that quarians are very human like?

Doesn't go into detail though, except the Quarian who was pwnd under interrogation, even that only describes the injuries and confirms what we already know.

yeah it mentioned that they dont have ears aswellm if i remember...after all he wasnt the finest specimen :P

"The other cheek gaped wide, as if someone had slit it lengthwise from lip to what passed for the quarian version of an ear"

from the book, page 235 (got it next to me Image IPB)

yeah thats the ticket, and if think that guy would have commented more if they were grotesque :P

I like the direction they took with Liara because I didn't. It was an imperfection, a character becoming darker t make the story more believable, like Garrus channelling Batman.

I think you're the first person I've seen since the game came out that actually liked ME2 Liara

To be fair, I still like Liara, since they do sort of explain her personality if you pick the right dialogue choices.

Also, this dude's analysis makes you look at the whole Liara thing a totally different way:

http://social.biowar...iscussion/3869/

That's a really good explanation, much better than my lazy/stupid Bioware theory ;)

That said, I'm a very cynical person, and I always question how much of explanations like that are intended by the creators, and how much is revisionist history by fans making a very good sounding theory that stays true to evidence.

There are just some things I can't get over with Liara.  For one, how can she justify letting you go off on a suicide mission by yourself while she sits in an office and tries to hunt down TSB?  I mean the collectors killed you, TSB tried to profit off your death.  TSB will be there in 10, 20, 100 years.  Shepard is there now.  If she was really in love, you would want to be with him, and would definitely want to be fighting the collectors over the Shadow Broker.

There's also a difference between getting darker, and going from a naive loner scientist and a TIM level schemer/murderer.  You don't just make that jump overnight.

Nor did Liara. You were dead for 2 years, remember

I'm aware that it's 2 years, maybe I percieve things differently for an asari.  They live for 1000 years, so I imagine that 2 years to them isn't anything significant.  At least not like it would be to a human.

Even 2 years though, you just don't often see people jumping from one side of the spectrum that far over to the other.

They must be somewhat prominent atleast I guess, to have recieved a mention. Unlike Turians and Asari who have recessed ears.

They control her appearance, personality and actions.  We have no effect on Tali aside from what our character does to her.

That brings up an interesting concept. in ME1 you could influence both Garrus and (provided you played a femshep) Kaiden. What would it be like for a renegade shepard to influence Tali to a more violent, aggressive person? Not jack psychotic or Grunt "kill anything that moves", just showing off a darker side to her personality.
I'd rather like to see that.

I'm quite content with Tali not being malevolent.

As am I. I'm just saying it would be an interesting turn of events if your shepard was able to turn to the proverbial dark side.
Here's an example; let's say she was exiled in your playthrough,
the quarian people turned on her after everything she did for them. Now if it were me, I'd be BEYOND pissed off about it. So Shepard, though conversations with her, could get her to admit that she needs to start looking out for herself more and not think so much about what other people need.
This translates into a more aggressive posture when dealing with prejudice against her people and in the romance subplot we could have a more indulgent tali who is all for the romance regardless of the risks and dangers presented.
I'm not saying I don't like Tali as is, and I never would say that, I'm just saying that this could be an entertaining twist on the character.

So no one wants to even discuss this?Image IPB
