Quick question: how do the Quarians "link-suit envioments"? Is there tubes or something..?

The male puts their tube in a hole in the female suit?

Hey! I'm the dirty-minded one here! :pinched:

No, not really.

To be honest, you're rather tame on average.

You're talking to an engineering student who hasn't seen his gf in over 6 months....excuse me if I tend to think dirty sometimes

I have a question. If Quarians are in their suits all the time, how the heck do they clean their teeth? More specifically, what do Quarians do to keep themselves santized like that during their pilgrimage? (Like brushing teeth, grooming, etc.)

I imagine their suits would have self-sterilizing systems that clean their skin and teeth, as well as dry them off.  They'd have to, because skin breaks down after long-term contact with moisture and another surface.  Probably every once in a while they find a sterile room to remove their suit and do a real cleaning with sterile water and antibacterial solution.

Remember at the beggining of the game Praza says something about CO2 scrubbers?  What are those specifically?

They aren't releasing their CO2, which is a toxic gas that will kill you if you breathe too much, so they would die if they didn't have "scrubbers" to either remove the CO2 or to turn it back into O2 they could breathe.  If your CO2 scrubber was damaged, you could get hypoxia (low oxygen) to the brain, which makes you loopy.

CO2 is not a germ but can it kill a quarian?

Due to a lack of Oxygen, which both Humans and Quarians need to (goes into a rant about mitochondria and ATP) and because there is no Oxygen to activate the ATP, the Quarian dies because it simply can't live with out cellular respiration.

It's cool, you Geth don't need to breathe so I understand.

Just like Trees absorb CO2 and release O2 the scrubbers remove CO2
If i put a bag over your head you could breath for a while, but soon your body takes in all the O2 in the air in the bag+your lungs, leaving only CO2

They breath the same air that we do. I imagine in high concentration of it will kill a quarian, just like it would us, but "normally", no it's not lethal to them.

Doubt it, they use CO2 scrubers for something...just don't know yet. (But i am guessing it's for sanitary reasons.)

They're in a sterile environment. No bacteria to cause decay. Non-issue!

I'm going to open a can of worm here:

For most of these arguments, Bioware is comparing Quarian physiology to human physiology in the way their immune system works and reacts to toxins. So most of the discussions we have are assuming Tali has close to a human-style immune system too.

Well the difficulty comes with explaining normal body flora, or "harmless bacteria."  Humans have bacteria all through their digestive tracts that help them to digest certain types of foods and to properly process waste.  Without these bacteria, you would basically get extreme diarrhea, lose all your body nutrients, and die.  Normally these bacteria do not harm you, but if your immune system is greatly reduced, they can actually spread throughout your entire body and kill you.  This happens to people with AIDS (a virus that destroys your immune system), which is the closest thing I could compare to Quarian immunology.

Now, if Tali had these bacteria to help her digest food and absorb nutrients, chances are very high they would invade her bloodstream, make her sick, and kill her because she has hardly any immune response.  But, if she didn't have them, she may not be able to function properly and would die.

Anyway, sort of a paradox, so what do other people think about this?

What are you saying is correct.  Out digestive system has an equilibrium.  The absence of either renders the system to disasterous results; each one with the possibility of death.  The two coexist with one another; it has too.
