Doubt it, they use CO2 scrubers for something...just don't know yet. (But i am guessing it's for sanitary reasons.)

Really? Where did you find this information? Codex I'm guessing right?

It's cool, you Geth don't need to breathe so I understand.

They're in a sterile environment. No bacteria to cause decay. Non-issue!
I'm going to open a can of worm here:
For most of these arguments, Bioware is comparing Quarian physiology to human physiology in the way their immune system works and reacts to toxins. So most of the discussions we have are assuming Tali has close to a human-style immune system too.
Well the difficulty comes with explaining normal body flora, or "harmless bacteria." Humans have bacteria all through their digestive tracts that help them to digest certain types of foods and to properly process waste. Without these bacteria, you would basically get extreme diarrhea, lose all your body nutrients, and die. Normally these bacteria do not harm you, but if your immune system is greatly reduced, they can actually spread throughout your entire body and kill you. This happens to people with AIDS (a virus that destroys your immune system), which is the closest thing I could compare to Quarian immunology.
Now, if Tali had these bacteria to help her digest food and absorb nutrients, chances are very high they would invade her bloodstream, make her sick, and kill her because she has hardly any immune response. But, if she didn't have them, she may not be able to function properly and would die.
Anyway, sort of a paradox, so what do other people think about this?
What are you saying is correct. Out digestive system has an equilibrium. The absence of either renders the system to disasterous results; each one with the possibility of death. The two coexist with one another; it has too.
So how does Tali survive then? Having bacteria +no immune system = blood infection = she dies. No bacteria = poor nutrient and water absorption = she dies?

25% efficient: that's not *that* bad considering we use a lot of the waste (heat) for other functions.

She is after all a Quarian...Maybe she does have bacteria that coexists with her digestive system? Maybe she doesn't even need a coexisting system. Who knows? Bioware! Elaborate for us damnit!

Tali mentions that, on her home planet, most microorganisms were not virulent. It is possible that their natural digestive flora would naturally confine themselves to the places where they help instead of hurt? There are a few biological mechanisms I could imagine by which this could come about.1490 wrote...

Yeah, their immune systems must work on different principles, or they mix pills into their food that take the place of the bacterial enzymes that aid in digestion. I tend to assume a lot of detail from Bioware in the medical area because the founders/presidents are MDs

TURIAN 1: "Damn skippy."
