In all of this, I wonder what humans were doing during the major events in space? (krogan rebellions, Geth rebellions)

Krogan rebelled in 700 AD

Geth rebelled in 1895 AD

Humans were doing boring stuff back then

Haha we didn't even have semi-decent ways to get around the planet in those times

I wonder what aliens think of WWII and human genocide...

"Hey! They're just as f*cked up as we are!"

I thought you were a turian. What do you mean "we"?

Let me explain:

TURIAN 1: "Hey! They're just as f*cked up as we are!"

TURIAN 2: "Yeah, but we're still better than them."

TURIAN 1: "Damn skippy."

Then come first contact war.
Sh!t...we just got owned...

Mother f**ker...no wonder.
The reason we haven't made contact yet...aliens look at our planet and go "Sh!t son, they can't even get along with eachother....what are the chances of them even trying to get along with us?"

and segregation was just 150 years away. I wonder if aliens had segregation with like green skinned salarians and blue skinned salarians, or pure blood and regular asari

If Tali wasn't in a suit, but still had her personality, would you guys still like her?

Yes, I would.

Now, if Tali had these bacteria to help her digest food and absorb nutrients, chances are very high they would invade her bloodstream, make her sick, and kill her because she has hardly any immune response.  But, if she didn't have them, she may not be able to function properly and would die.

Anyway, sort of a paradox, so what do other people think about this?

Tali mentions that, on her home planet, most microorganisms were not virulent.  It is possible that their natural digestive flora would naturally confine themselves to the places where they help instead of hurt?  There are a few biological mechanisms I could imagine by which this could come about.

Ah...you're probably right.  I remember her saying they developed with microorganisms in a different fashion than we did and that's why their immune systems were already weak: they didn't need them to be strong on the planet. Their cohabitating bacteria must be completely unable to affect them in negative ways or something.  Just like cholorplasts in plant that absorb light are evolved from light-utilizing cyanobacteria that primitive plant cells ingested hundreds of millions of years ago.

Of course, that graph really only represents European scientific advancement...

Our friendly neighborhood Arabs took over for us after the Greeks, during the Islamic Golden Age.  They're responsible for huge advancements in mathematics (the invention of Algebra, from the Arabic 'Al-Jabr'), optics, medicine, and chemistry.  In fact, they were the very first real scientists.  That's right.. the scientific method was first quantified and championed by Islam.

The Renaissance came about just in time to take the knowledge back from them before they descended into their own religious dark age.

Isn't that Shepard's goal at this point?

Get her out of the suit?

Definitely...she's the cute, innocent type when it comes to relationships...but a total badass in combat.
And from what we have seen she's a fox in bed:P

Christ, we're a really slow race. :?

Well...Maybe if it werent for those damned crusades. We would be 400 years into the future technologically if they hadn't happened. Think where we would be right now!

I blame Constantine.

I mean, really the cause of the dark ages was the fall of Rome; which in turn made society collapse.

Well too be fair Salarians are prone to bursts of technology due to a short life span, little time to be wasted, while Asari have plenty of time to build, research, advance because their best and brightest live for hundreds of years.
But the real explosion each of these races got where the findings of Prothean Technology, each time one of these races found a ruin or something their technology was adavnced to prothean levels.
Turian's had found the prothean tech and advanced on their own until their discovery around the Krogan rebellions, where they were brought into the Citadel races.
Humanity grew on its own (With a mars ruin causing the psaceage boost) as well in the local cluster untl first contact.
Whoops.

The real question is; if she looked like a cross between a vorcha and a batarian with boobs out of the suit, but still had her personality, would you still like her?

The issue is that we can't get up into space that easily without blowing a ton of resources. And to Mars...well all we need is resources.
Let's probe some planets!!!
Wait a minute.....

I get the feeling that BioWare is going to over-do Tali because she is so popular.

Someone, give me reassurance!

I guess it would be Salarians, since they look the most like the iconic "grey" aliens.

The fact still remains that shepard didn't look turned off by what he saw...so the chances of her looking like that are fairly slim
