Ah...you're probably right.  I remember her saying they developed with microorganisms in a different fashion than we did and that's why their immune systems were already weak: they didn't need them to be strong on the planet. Their cohabitating bacteria must be completely unable to affect them in negative ways or something.  Just like cholorplasts in plant that absorb light are evolved from light-utilizing cyanobacteria that primitive plant cells ingested hundreds of millions of years ago.

Finally caught up whew.

Quarians have zero insects on their homeworld. None. Zilch. Every single plant evolved to have the mammals carry their pollen/spores for distribution. In time the mammals evolved to accept them as beneficial and their immune systems evolved around carrying foreign matter.

Jump to now and you have a Specie that acts as a sponge in any enviroment they enter. Absorbing and processing everything it comes into contact with.

Without the plantlife of their worlds their immune systems cannot develop at all because they are meant to only react with those key fauna which provide beneficial side effects. The human system in comparison automatically repels such invaders (hair in your nose/ears, sneezing) while the Quarian one takes them all in.

A Quarian having grown on their homeworld would be able to travel around without a suit for most nominally clean enviroments in the rest of the galaxy, their system has by now adapted and learned what foreign particles it can use and simply kicks the non essential ones out as unusable.

A space born Quarian has had no such adaption.

That's my Layman's theory right now. <3

Good hypothesis.  If bacteria and like organisms don't use Quarian bodies for food and reproduction, neither do Quarians develop to utilize those organisms.  In fact, that pretty much has to be the theory or all Quarians would be dead.  If humans lost their immune capabilities, it wouldn't matter if they were in suits because their own body flora would infect and kill them.

I know some plants made it to the fleet (they do have a vegetarian diet after all) so there is some influence there. I honestly couldn't guess how many or which types would influence them. Maybe the edible ones adjust their intestinal bacteria while none edible ones reinforce their skin receptors?

Really it's just my theory. It'll need somebody much more informed than in myself in the ways of science to figure out how that works. The lack of insect life is a pretty huge impact after all. We germinate most of our crops with honey bee's after all.

Being a nurse I know a decent amount about human biological process, but since Quarians are completely different, it would take someone with good knowlege in evolutionary biology to really figure it out.  Without that, I think your theory is as good as any.

vegetarian because its impractical to keep animals on the fleet but it says in the codex when they come to a system with dextro food sources, meat based food pastes are highly sought after.

Best I could come up with was Hips Don't Lie
I'm sure somebody can top that.

I enjoyed that section, but wondered about the foliage just hanging over some of the walls. That's true I forgot abou the grass ^_^.

I wonder if Quarians growing up on the Rayya end up being more sturdy? (Yay Tali! <3)

I always wondered where Tali, Garrus, Jacob, Mordin, Grunt, and Zaeed all slept.

Do they sleep in the cryo chambers lining the path to where Garrus hangs out?

Well you can dance but unfortunately not with Tali...just Ash and Liara I think.
But they need to improve Shep's dancing in ME3...it went from a Rick Roll esque dance to lazy swaying...
A badass like him should know how to headspin at the very least

Don't analyze too deeply... this is Sci-Fi after all.
It works and makes sense by cursory inspection, that is good enough for me.

True... but plants always find a way!
Look at chile peppers.  They primarily spread their seeds by birds.  So to keep other things from eating them, they evolved the chemical capsaicin, that wonderful substance that gives all hot peppers their kick!  It keeps most animals from eating them, but birds are not susceptible to the chemical, so only birds eat the peppers and thus only birds spread the seeds.  Humans are actually the only mammal that subjects themselves to that stuff voluntarily :)
