I'm fairly new, but I think it has something to do with the Thread Page  # record being broken, so many people will spam more for numbers, which is alright as long as the ACTUAL Tali discussion doesn't get lost and forgotten under the speed at which the thread is growing, which does happen and is unfortunate. And I will admit the Tali drunk seriousness was a little off-putting as well as "what positions Tali and Shepard practiced that night". But in all honesty I see the same thing going on the Mirianda thread  Really we should all love more and hate less.

Separate our differences, and let us become united as Talimancers.

We show our love to Tali, but why all the hate to eachother...in each of us there is a little bit of Tali, so why not show at least a bit of love to all fellow Talimancers?

To be honest, it's not so much the off-topic stuff that bugs me. Can be plenty fun from time to time. It's the negativity and insults. This used to be a much friendlier community, and I don't think anyone can really deny it.
