I agree that the romance with Tali is or at the very least should ideally be about personality first and foremost. However, I don't like that you are so dismissive of the other romances. I'm sure some Miranda and Jack fans think the same thing, that their romance is the only genuine one and is the "canon" one. Actually, there is no "canon" romance. If you make a new shepard in ME2 he or she did not romance anyone.

And Tali is a pretty unique character. Maybe Mission from KotOR sorta stands out as far as her skill set goes, but no one else comes to mind.

Mission I think was very similar to ME1 Tali personality wise.. Eager for adventure, young but not naive.. etc.

I always had a thing for mission too

I'm not wrong. I'm saying the this. In the books its stated that quarian faces have not been seen outside of their own race. This is correct.

Im not saying your wrong, but unless the writers were given the backgrounds for all of this (like Bungie did for Eric Nylund and his Halo novels), then I dont think the ME novels would be considered canon would they?

Drew Karpyshyn wrote the script for the games and books, I'm sure he's not confused by himself just yet.

On the Topic of Tali, someone just took it upon themselves to ask about similar aspects of Tali seen in characters from other Franchises. In thier case, Alxy Vance of Half Life. This is a Topic we can persue, since it is Tali centric. The Test is to maintain the Focus on Tali, and not let the Focus move on to one or more characters compared too Tali Zorah. So, can anyone thing of a Character from another game series that reminds them of Tali or even think inspired the character's creation? And say why. Remember, keep focused on Tali.

Sorry, it was probably a bad time to bring the argument up anyway, since the thread is currently on topic and it seems kind of confusing.  I was just expressing my frustrations from earlier: the only point I was trying to make was "if something's broke, help fix it instead of standing around and watching."  I can see that you're definitely one of the people that would help fix it

Hmm, who Tali reminds me of?  I guess I could see Alyx Vance because of the whole mechanic, daughter-of-a-scientist thing.  Both have pretty strong personalities.  Someone in another thread was comparing the three ME female LIs to the ones in Baldur's Gate too, and there are a decent amount of similarities, though a lot of differences IMO

I did not know that he was the writer for the games as well.  I was just asking for reference.

(Laughs) I can never get over how people are so adamant that Tali had purple or even purple-ish skin. Pay close attention to her in ME2 through the Visor. We know the Visor in of itself is of a violet tinting thanks to the 'Pounce' scene, however, if you look closely, it's rather clear Tali's skin tone is a very dusky to slate grey color. It's likey the same with all the Quarians. Yes, as Doc has pointed out, it's only been a few hundred years since the Exile of the Mirgrant Fleet; however, look at how easy it is for some humans to become light color in just a few days or week of being out of the Sun. Yes, Quarians are not Human, but the theory is sound none the less that after a few hundred years they would loose any real pigmentation. Not albinos, thank god, but certainly not Purple or Violet or Blue.

I really can't think of a character with that personality done as well as Tali was.
Most come off as too perfect and that makes you not like them.

The only connection I can make at all is that girl from Ico, how you spend the entire game protecting her and caring for her, and at the very end she takes your wounded, beaten body, places it on the lifeboat, and gently pushes you out into the water to save you from the falling castle.

I seriously teared up at that. Not a single word passed in the scene, yet it was deeply emotional.
