I agree that the romance with Tali is or at the very least should ideally be about personality first and foremost. However, I don't like that you are so dismissive of the other romances. I'm sure some Miranda and Jack fans think the same thing, that their romance is the only genuine one and is the "canon" one. Actually, there is no "canon" romance. If you make a new shepard in ME2 he or she did not romance anyone.

oh dont misunderstand me.
I think the other relationships are good and have great stories behind them, especially Jacks which is actually quite touching when she comes to see you before the final battle, she cries in sheps arms and is like a whole different person.
what I mean is just in my opinion its the most genuine, seeing that Tali was on the first game and has alot more stock in you and has known you since the beginning.

she remembers the hardships your character has faced and has always wanted you, and the fact that you cannot be with her till me2 makes it all the more worth it and thats probably the one of the reasons Tali has so many fans.

Its a deeper more intimate story to me, shes very self-LESS about everything and always thinking of you and others first and I personally Love that in a woman.

Last but not least by saying canon I also mean it as Garrus would be the canon for fem shep because he too is a character that bioware has invested alot into and is placed in both games cause like Tali is a MAJOR fan favorite.
Thats why I think shes the canon romance but hey to each his own opinion, the canon relationship is who ever you choose I guess lol=]

Anyway, to me Tali always reminded me of Delen from Babylon 5. Wait, Wait! I'll explain. In Babylon 5, whenever 'anyone' talked to Delen, the whole galaxy just seemed to become simpler due to her choice of words. Her gentleness, or her enthusiasm could always put things into perspective. I recall an episode of season 2 when she called everyone in the Galaxy, "Star Stuff," saying that we were all apart of a greater universe, building blocks of life, etc.

Whenever I speak to Tali in game, I get the same feeling, like...she can still see the Universe with the joy and wonder of a child, and that helps make everything seem less harsh.

I'm only renegade when it furthers my personal goals, or someone ticks me off.. On my first playthrough i think I was full paragon and 2/5 renegade.

Pretty sure someone made the point on the last page, but it really is wrong to hold actions in the book against him.  In ME2 the writers changed his character to a much less evil person.  You can hate book/ME1 TIM all you want, but that character doesn't exist anymore.  Projecting his past personality onto him now is making people think he's a more evil character.

He's no longer an excessively violent terrorist, just the ultimate renegade.  Their is a difference.

On my Renegade playthrough? yes... First playthrough I didn't though(Wish I had) 

I can't bring myself to do a Renegade playthrough. I don't know why...
That's one of the few achievements on ME1 I didn't get.

I have more pure renegade playthroughs in ME1 than pure Paragon...

I agree. It's what makes Tali very appealing.

Well what "canon" means is what actually happened. For example, Revan was canonically a lightside male. But that's Star Wars. This is Mass Effect and I doubt Bioware will write what gender Shepard was and his/her romantic interest.
