That's beyond my scope, you'll have to take it up with the writer's that made the statement

Well I'm actually curious if the books explain why.  It's fine if you want to make something up as a science fiction writer, but fans have a right to pick everything you write apart.  And outside of quarians being invisible in photographs like vampires or something, the no quarian picture argument is bs.

I'm not totally familiar anymore with all that was said, but from my recollection it was a short excerp. It has to do with them being so afraid of disease that the only place a quarian would ever take off their enviro-suit would be in the most private places- that being within the migrant fleet.

What gets me is why don't they just use clear ****ing lenses on their facesheild? Or transitions!! Human invented those in like 1982!!

Well if they're comfortable taking their masks off in the flotilla, they would be comfortable taking them off in a sterile room for nice compensation.  Seriously, there are no down on their luck young quarian females on pilgrimage that would do anything for a few bucks?  Oops, cliche porn reference, moving on :pinched:

There's what, 17 million quarians now?  And they've been around for more than 300 years.  Not once, a single picture leaked?  It's just unfathomable.

As far as why their face masks are tinted, I would say Bioware being noncommital towards a design is the actual reason, whether they want to justify it in game later or not.

Quarians ARE NOT comfortable taking off their masks on the flotilla, they almost NEVER do so. And only in private.

And who in the hell came up with Krogasm ? That sounds like something real bad....

Also, i was away for about 24 hours yesterday from the forums, i came back and there was extra 120 pages if i remember correctly. Well done lads, Tali is getting lots of love.

"Who has just appeared"
It all depend of who.
About the Krogasm, I don't even want know.
And I though this thread would be locked !
Maybe  they will let us go to the 2000 pages.

So ditzy quarian A takes a sexy picture of herself in a private room where she lives on the flotilla and wants to email it to her boyfriend, and hits send all by mistake.  Quarian appearance just leaked.  There are so many different ways for quarians to be revealed to the galaxy.

Tali proves that quarians are willing to risk taking their helmets off if they deem the situation worthy, so its not just on the flotilla.  You're saying there are no morally loose quarians that would take a picture to score a couple hundred thousand credits?  Can get a new ship instead of a used one, can complete your pilgrimage.  Who cares if you get the sniffles.  People risk death a lot more in every day life.

You seem to be underestimating the scope of time and amount of people.  What's to stop some psycho from murdering a random quarian, taking pictures of it and posting those on the internet.  Millions of people over hundreds of years.

Listen, I can't argue all of the points here. I'm telling you the authors said the general public has no knowledge of what quarians look like under their masks. This is their words, and their universe, not mine. But they can make any unlikely scenario they want.

Yeah. I guess that is right.

About the Krogasm, they mention it in the codex entry i think.
And there is one more, it was called something like Genit-elcor or something.
Both specially publications published by the same humans doing Fornax.

About the lock, i have been expecting to see this place locked since we made it 1000 pages =P
Yesterday i was sure that by the time i get online in the evening we have started 4.0
But 3.0 is still soldering on.

Like I said before, if your science fiction is popular, people will try to disect every minute detail.  They clearly overlooked that if they said the galaxy doesn't know what quarians look like, because its impossible.  Personally, I'm not going to take an author's word as gospel when it can't be true.  If they can create some magical reason, then I'll listen, but I can't even imagine a possible explanation.

Its not like anyone else wants to talk about anything.  Is sitting in silence better?

And its hard for me to accept because its bs.  I wouldn't accept it if the authors said humans magically learned to flap their arms and fly in 2012 either because its impossible.  There are two ways to make science fiction, completely made up, or based in reality.  If you base it in reality, you're going to get called out when you screw up.  The authors screwed up if they said the galaxy doesn't know what quarians look like, its that simple.

Ya. I agree. If people actually gave a **** what poverty ass quarians looked like they would find a way. It also mentions in the book a scenario where a group of people take off the mask of a quarian, none of them make a big deal of it, or really care at all. It kind of indicates that nobody really cares what they look like though.

Curiosity is one of the driving forces of human nature.  You can't expect billions of people to not care about something as huge as the appearance of a sentient alien race.  If the people don't make a big deal about seeing a quarian unmasked, the only explanation is that they already knew what they looked like.

And sorry if I'm coming off as an ass, I usually move on to another argument by now, but no one else is posting
