Well honestly I don't even see the thread as too serious most of the time.  Lately people just seem to prefer to outwardly disagree rather than ignore.  Which leads to a much more contentious atmosphere.  Usually there are fine conversations even when people are battling, you just have to sift through other posts.  As long as you can ignore some stuff, the contents of the thread really shouldn't bother you.  I'm surprised more people don't ignore everything though.
