I thoroughly enjoyed Martin sheen's AND Yvonne strahovski's VAing, the latter isn't even a big star really..

And Mark Meer's VA in the first game? You don't always get good VAing with people who are specifically that.

And to sum up... Mark hamils joker

Mark Hamil's joker is amazing and Mark Hamil is probably a bigger voice actor now then actor.

And Mark Meer is small time, very small time.
Mark meer's only VO work is with Bioware, being canadian there is a good chance he was just friends with someone who worked there and they threw him the gig and it grew from there.

He's not in the same league of Jennifer Hale, Keith David, Steve Blum, Grey Delise.

My point being, real actors are just as capable as delivering quality VAing, and are well worth the price for quality and fan recognition... Where as cheap VAs are... cheap

Mark Meer isn't really a voice over actor, he's a comedian who did some voice work for Bioware. He's only done voice work for bioware. Being canadian also there is a good chance he simply had friends/connections with them and got the gig.

Lets not compared Mark Meer, who only has done Bioware games with true voice actors who make their living doing what they do.
People like Jennifer Hale, Keith David, Grey Delise, Steve Blum.

I know im in the minority here, but I think meer does a pretty good job as shepard. He can play an alright hero and he's pretty good at some of the badass renegade lines. I personally also think jennifer hale is horrible with the paragon stuff; she just sounds so damn wierd. Makes a great mean **** though

Your attitude towards Hale is exactly how I feel about Meer weirdly enough.
His paragon lines make me wanna throw up. But his renegade lines are awesome~!

I actually think Meer does his job fine too. His shepard comes off very professional soldier. He has some bad lines "Come here", but considering how much dialogue he has I easily forgive that.

I think Hale suffers from bad directing. I've heard too much of her work in the past to think some of her weak deliverys are anything more then the voice director giving her bad direction. The reason I say it's his fault instead of hers, is because she seems to have a consistently soft delivery regarding certain benevolent actions.

If it was just a once in a while thing there would be irregularity to it. The consistency of it means the Director isn't either correcting her or is encouraging her to go that route.

More then Meer? Sure, but not that much. This is their job, they can't charge an arm and a leg. Besides avid gamers/animation watchers who knows who the hell Steve Blum, Jennifer Hale, Grey Delise, Jeff Bennet, Tara Strong, Wendee Lee(who in my opinion has the most gorgeous voice ever) are.

They work for companies, unions, etc. They're contracted at reasonable rates by comparison to celebrities.

I would have to know what the difference in pay is tbh, before I say celebrities make too much in comparison. :?

Ill admit, he does do a better renegade. The interrogation on thanes loyalty was a real standout in my opinion

It's true, who knows, maybe they enjoy a new acting opportunity and do it for standard VO cost.

I doubt it's ridiculous much more, especially if they had small roles like Adam Baldwin

That's the thing too, right? I mean, even if they get someone huge like Martin Sheen, they can prolly bang out most of the dialogue in a couple of days, unlike a movie where they have to employ them for months on end.

I think you nailed it on the head there; meer sounds like a soldier. I love simon templemans voice for example, but if he voiced shep it would just be weird. Meer fits his role. As for hale, I've never heard any of her other works, but what you said does make sense. She does renegade agressive just like meer does, but when you say anything paragon or even neutral her delivery is just so...ugh. Its like she's sarcastically being nice
