I think the Talimancer "nation" was much closer to outright civil war previously. This time I do not perceive those who would prefer a stricter, more authoritarian rule of law having the numbers they did back then. There are new and old guards mixed in on both sides. It does not have to erupt in to an all out conflict though I am prepared to defend the freedom and easy going atmosphere I perceive to be prevalent in the Tali threads to date. If things really take a turn for the worse I would advocate an amicable split whereby two separate Tali threads are created and people can then freely choose for themselves which level of freedom and focus they prefer to spend time on in this forum. That way each side can have a home without constantly aggravating one another short of intentionally seeking each other out to do just that.

Before I go: Duct tape. Proven it can seal a leaky boat on Mythbusters. As well as have a boat made out of it. Easily duct tape. Though I would put a patch over the holes so the adhesive does not aggravate the skin.

Or maybe we're not obsessed enough to find that toe. Seriously it took me multiple playthroughs before I caught Tali's 3rd toe in the first game.

I don't mean to start anymore flame wars saying something like this, but really, we could have handled this thread so much better.

First of all, was it really 2000 pages for Tali?  Of course.  I don't get where people get this massive idealogical view of the internet.  There are hundreds of different posters in the Tali threads, and very few topics by comparison to talk about.  Just because some pages are filled up arguing over TIM or the geth, does that change the fact that we came here, and stay here because of Tali?

I really don't know how I can stress this more, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THIS MANY TO PEOPLE TO STAY ON ONE MINOR TOPIC FOR SO LONG.  As much as I love Tali, she is a very minor part of Mass Effect.  After a month, we've exhausted everything there is to talk about her.  I don't come back and read this thread to talk about hybrid kids or her head scarf for the 15th time.  I come back because I like the community, and the members are capable of either giving me a laugh, or engaging in inteligent discussion, even if the topic is only Mass Effect related, not necessarily Tali related.

To address your other point, we could have handled this thread so much better?  I'm curious how.  Once you come to terms with the inevitable off topicness, this thread is great.  There's very little trolling and flame wars in general.  For the most part, we all get along.  This isn't a utopia, people will disagree on stuff, but I'm perfectly fine with wasting any amount of time lurking and posting on these forums.  People will spam the pages around the numbers like 1337 and 2000, and there will be spam in between.  It doesn't lessen my enjoyment when I'm lurking or posting.  There is always stuff of substance if you look.

The thing that I don't understand is, why is it so hard for people to ignore things?  If you don't like the picture posting sprees, ignore them, they're done in less than a half hour, if you don't like people discussing super scientific points regarding quarians, ignore it, there's always a parallel discussion.  If you don't like people derailing the thread by projecting their views of what should be posted here, ignore it.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this thread will only get more and more off topic as time passes.  The on topic people need to understand that.  I know you liked the month after Mass Effect came out, but its gone, and its not coming back.  That amount of in depth discussion on Tali is gone.  You can still talk about her, and others will be willing to engage you, but a hundred people won't be able to all focus on that discussion, and will talk about other things in the meantime.  If you don't like it, nothing is forcing you to respond.  And in fact, I would encourage those people to think before posting.  What would you rather have, some off topic posting, or a 50 page argument on this before we get back to off topic posting?

*edit*  And sorry for posting this like 10 pages later, computer hung up on posting, and thread moves really fast.
