Haha, well properly haikus are restricted in subject as well, and contain certain other elements (a verbal element, a seasonal element, usually refer to nature), but these obviously don't apply when writing haikus about other things.  Even defining them by the nymber of syllables is somewhat incorrect -- the Japanese definition is subtly different.
