Eh....recyling is an eco friendly form of resource acquisition. It's not a very effective form though.

You need resources and space to build a foundry. There is reference to Quarians mining so they must have some kind of facility. The thing is they would probably use the material to fix ships and equipment. It seems to me Quarians would have a better space/air force than marines/army. They probably don't go fight very much except in skirmishes and hit & runs instead of a sustained battles.

And yes I know the eldar would sacrifice millions of humans for one eldar.
and yes the individual human guardsmen are just like us. Bear in mind there are trillions of humans and only millions of eldar.

The Imperium of Man however is anything but nice.

It really sounds like if the quarians acutally took the time to build up their havy industry, they would be set as long as they kept the minerals coming

I doubt the quarians have any strong tactical advantage besides the sheer quantity of ships under their command.
Their technology is dated, they have no strong tactical defensive position. It seems unlikely they have too many truely effective warships left in their fleet after 300 years.

It's also unlikely they've acquired too many new warships in the time since, I imagine most militaries from other species are hesistant to relenquish them to the quarians and their price tag for independant purchase is sure to be dramatically higher then simple cargo vessels.

One problem The fleet is dying. They are loosing ships faster than they can be repaired or replaced.

Also goverments will give them ships just to stay away from their systems.

Do you play eldar by chance? I usually end up in arguements like this with eldar players, I play Imperial guard

I still  Tali

Nope, Necron. Screw the pointy heads. Like I said there are no good guys in WAR40k, just on the scale of evil to most evil the Eldar nation is less evil then the Imperium of Man, the eldar are still plenty evil and xenophobic on their own.

You kinda have to break up the Imperium into sub groups

The guard is generally good
SM are kinda bad/good
Inquisition is ebil!!!!!!!!

therein lies the proble, where do they go to mine? Most systems are inhabited and they just pay the quarians to leave. Plus you need somewhere to build he heavy industry, which takes space. Space they don't have. All available space, besides the liveships are living quarters. Imagine SR2 can hold 60 crew. That same ship would hold about 600 quarians. ie the Idenna is about the same size as a medium cruiser w/ a crew compliment of 70-80. Yet 694 quarians live on board.

Can't argue with that, when i say Imperium of Man, i mean te goverment. The human citizens are by and large normal, good people.
The imperial guard are largely unlikey SOB's given flashlights and told to go die somewhere...by the government.

It's a necessary evil though, for all the races. The WAR40k universe makes the Warhammer universe look bright and sunny, and the warhammer universe is extreamly dark and unplesant compared to pretty much every other universe out there.

It's for the giant space hamsters(not the minature giant space hamsters or the normal space hamsters) run to keep the ships running.

Where else do you think the abnormal minature variants come from? Expsoure to too much eezo causes some of them to have deformities, like abnormally small size.

Yeah, sometimes, after reading a bunch of 40k books I think the ME universe is too good to be true

Wait, the humans and aleins aren't killing each other?
This must be the word of CHAOS!! Or Eldrad, the tactical genius himself

That's my point. As the captain of the Idenna says ' the safety of the migrant fleet is a false one'. I wasn't saying they have a top notch kick ass space/air force. Just that branch is probably stronger than their marines/army, due to more confrontations in space. Once a ship gets within a set distance from the flotilla then a challenge is sent. If that challange is not authenticated, or the incoming ship does not change it's vector it is attacked by an overwhelming force. Quarians have 3 liveships, iof even one is destroyed then millions would die of starvation. Where would you put your resources?

They have the biggest fleet in the galaxy. It doesn't mean that all the ships are well equipped for fighting, it's just that they have the most space farring vessels currently in service.
