I'm not saying it was a bad thing; what I'm saying is bad is when that's all people care about, which is the reason why some people (some, not all, not nearly all) went for Miranda and/or Jack. Sex is just one of many ways to affirm and add depth and meaning to a relationship, but it in no way should be the sole reason for pursuing a relationship, whether in game or IRL.

I think it sells Miranda and Jack short to say that they're both just sex objects.  They're excellently written characters and have hidden complexities that only come out once they're comfortable with Shepard.

I don't get why so many people are interested in just the sex. Yeah, it's great and all, but doesn't anyone actually care about the people themselves? Having a relationship with someone is about sharing yourself with them, emotionally, intellectually, and yes, physically. But no one type of shared experience should be exclusive of the others. That is why I romanced Tali, not because I wanted to see what's under the mask or inside the suit. I liked her as a person; do I really need any other reason?

Such base creatures humans are... (Yes, I am indeed aware that I just insulted myself in that final statement as well.)

I agree with everything you just said.  I cared about every character in ME2 (well, almost every... sorry, Grunt), and I want the best for all of them.  I'm interested in finding out what happens to all of them, and hopefully I'll be able to see some happy endings in ME3.

You didn't like grunt? But he used puns,

"Humans, Asari, Salarian too squishy. Quarian not so much. Turian, well i guess you gotta work it with a knife. But then whats the point. Point..... heheheh.... nevermind"

Also anyone wonder what he meant when he said quarians werent so squishy?

Grumble, if i had a dollar every time someone messed up this quote, grumble

"Less then an inch deep to server your spine. Your soft. Salarians, asari, all soft. Quarians not so much. Turians you have to work the blade I guess. Never saw much point though. Heh, "much point", ahh nevermind."

actually enjoy symbolism in relationship. You are the only person who has seen beyond her mask, it's symbolic and a very intimite guesture of trust. She even mentions it "I've never shown my face to anyone. But I'm willing to show you, if I can do it without dieing."
That's main reason why I'm against bioware revealing her face. it's something for her and shepard to know.
Does that make sense?

Considering Shepard's actions defined by you...no...

No, it makes sense, I just disagree with it. ;)

I have to disagree. You can a romantic relationship with someone without having to have sex. Cuddling, hugging, and kiss are also physical actions that can be done with one another that are not necessarily sexual.

Whats the point of huggling and cuddling and loving someone and not having sex?

If you love them, why not have sex. It's not the only physical way to show affection, but it is the strongest physical act you can perform together to show trust and intimacy.

I'm going to be brutally honest: A woman could have the greatest personality in the world but I don't think I could maintain a meaningful relationship with her if she looked like a swamp monster. It's just what we are. We are genetically conditioned to seek a companion that is physically sound.

I can like someone as a person, but if they don't fit the physical criteria I'm looking for I honestly would be lying to myself if I thought a relationship with them would work.

What I'm trying to say is that the physical side of things is very important and should not be undervalued. If you're the kind of person who looks beyond the skin, all the more power to you, you're a better person than me. But you're an exception to the rule.

I'm not saying that I'm going to go out and start dating idiotic people just because they're hot. It's all about the balance. I would find myself craving intellectual stimulation.

Don't underestimate the power of the physical, the material, the quick fix. We are all animals after all, just animals with big brains.

Is that a serious question? Come on. Just as you said, it's a way of showing affection and trust. It's the companionship that all humans crave or want. It's not much of a relationship if all you do is just have sex. That would be "friends with benefits" or booty calls.

If you love them, why not have sex. It's not the only physical way to show affection, but it is the strongest physical act you can perform together to show trust and intimacy.

In Tali's case, sex is not something that can happen anywhere at any time without any risks. I hate to bring this up, but have you ever considered old couples? Their relationship may no longer be sexual, but their relationship is no lesser for that. They still love each other.

I'd definately say its not the 'strongest' way to show 'trust and intimacy' considering all the one night stands, prostotution, friends w/ benifits, celebrity sex etc etc.

Of course, which is why Tali's group is so big.  They aren't ONLY interested in the sex, but people always have stronger feelings for someone they want to actually romance... what's so hard to get about that?

Having a relationship with someone is about sharing yourself with them, emotionally, intellectually, and yes, physically.

There you go.  Without the"sex" aspect, it is an intellectual and emotional relationship only.  I.e. "friends".  Good friends, maybe, but still friends.

But no one type of shared experience should be exclusive of the others. That is why I romanced Tali, not because I wanted to see what's under the mask or inside the suit. I liked her as a person; do I really need any other reason?

Well... yes, otherwise your romance doesn't make any sense.  If you didn't want any sort of physical bond with her, why romance her?  Would you be content if they had just made her your real good friend?  If instead of saying, "I want to feel your skin on mine..." she just said, "Gee Shepard, you're such a good friend to me, thanks for being there".  Would you have found that just as fulfilling?  Because I certainly wouldn't, and it isn't because I don't care about personality; it is because I care about all aspects of a romantic relationship.

Oh, and I don't consider it "base" to believe that sex is an important part of a relationship, either.
Maybe that's just me.

Sorry, I should've made it clearer that the physical aspect isn't the only aspect of a relationship that should matter.

And I don't find it base to believe sex is an important part of a relationship; what I find base are relationships based solely on physical interactions.

Does that clear the air a bit? :)
